Anaheim at Washington 3:00 PM ET
Washington dodged a bullet when Tom Wilson avoided his fifth career suspension after receiving a game misconduct for a high hit Friday, so the controversial yet talented forward will be in the lineup when the Capitals host the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday afternoon. Wilson, whose latest ban for an illegal head shot on St. Louis' Oskar Sundqvist during the preseason was reduced from 20 to 14 games, has scored in a career-best five straight contests and boasts seven goals in nine games this season.
Winnipeg at NY Rangers 6:00 PM ET
The Winnipeg Jets continue their three-game trip through the greater New York City area when they visit the Rangers on Sunday. Winnipeg improved to 4-1-0 versus the Metropolitan Division after blowing a two-goal lead in the third period before defeating New Jersey 4-3 in overtime Saturday for its third victory in four games, and plays the Islanders in Brooklyn on Tuesday before heading home for four games.
Calgary at Chicago 7:00 PM ET
The Calgary Flames have vaulted to the top of the Pacific Division standings behind a potent offense and a suddenly stingy defense, and have a good chance of strengthening their position when they visit the struggling Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday. Calgary is 5-1-1 in its last seven games after holding Los Angeles to 14 shots in Friday's 4-1 victory with goaltender Mike Smith improving his save percentage by 20 points in winning his last two games.
San Jose at Montreal 7:00 PM ET
The scuffling San Jose Sharks look to avoid a winless five-game road trip and extend their mastery in the series when they visit the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday night. The Sharks are 0-3-1 on their trek while allowing 20 goals after a frustrating 6-2 loss at Ottawa on Saturday afternoon in which they totaled 38 shots - nine by major preseason acquisition Erik Karlsson.
Colorado at Detroit 7:00 PM ET
Colorado’s high-powered top line had a quiet end to an otherwise loud month last time out and look to get back to business as the Avalanche attempt to extend their point streak to 11 games Sunday night against the host Detroit Red Wings. Mikko Rantanen had a goal, giving him an NHL-most 43 points, but linemates Nathan MacKinnon and captain Gabriel Landeskog were kept off the scoresheet in Friday’s 3-2 overtime loss to last-place St. Louis at home.
Carolina at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
The NHL-worst Los Angeles Kings showed a brief spark with wins last Sunday and Tuesday, but enter a four-game homestand Sunday against the surging Carolina Hurricanes off back-to-back frustrating defeats. The Kings gave up the winning goal with 2:20 left Thursday in a 3-2 loss at Edmonton before mustering only 14 shots overall and giving up three tallies in the third period of a 4-1 setback at Calgary on Friday.
