Preview Roundups
November 25, 2016
NY Rangers at Philadelphia 1:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers will attempt to regroup from their worst defeat of the season when they pay a visit to the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday afternoon. The Rangers kicked off a home-and-home series with a 5-2 drubbing at Pittsburgh on Monday, only to be steamrolled at home by the defending Stanley Cup champion two nights later.
Chicago at Anaheim 4:00 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks try to continue their holiday tradition of defeating the Ducks in Anaheim on the day after Thanksgiving when they visit on Friday. This is the third consecutive season in which the teams meet on this day, with Chicago prevailing 3-2 in overtime last year and 4-1 in 2014, but the Blackhawks could be without captain Jonathan Toews for Friday's renewal after he left Wednesday's 2-1 loss in San Jose.
NY Islanders at San Jose 4:00 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks attempt to remain perfect on their five-game homestand when they host the New York Islanders on Friday afternoon. San Jose began its lengthy stretch at SAP Center on Monday with a shutout victory over New Jersey and made it two straight by edging Chicago 2-1 two nights later.
Pittsburgh at Minnesota 4:00 PM ET
After avenging a humbling loss in resounding style, the Pittsburgh Penguins look to carry the momentum into a Friday matinee against the Minnesota Wild. The reigning Stanley Cup champions are coming off a 6-1 thrashing at the New York Rangers - 48 hours after allowing five unanswered goals in a 5-2 home loss to New York.
Buffalo at Washington 5:00 PM ET
It was a flashback to last season on Wednesday as captain Alex Ovechkin recorded a hat trick and Evgeny Kuznetsov delivered a two-point performance in a victory for the Washington Capitals. The pair of Russians looks to build off its big night when the Capitals host the Buffalo Sabres on Friday in the first of three games between the teams over a 15-day period.
Winnipeg at Nashville 6:00 PM ET
The Winnipeg Jets look to salvage the finale of their five-game road trip when they visit the Nashville Predators on Friday for the opener of a home-and-home series. Winnipeg, which hosts Nashville on Sunday, apparently left its offense home as it has scored a total of five goals while losing the first four contests on its trek.
Calgary at Boston 7:30 PM ET
The Boston Bruins look to avoid a season high-tying third straight defeat when they host the Calgary Flames on Friday. Boston was in the midst of its best stretch of the season, yielding five goals during a 4-1-0 surge, before suffering back-to-back losses to St. Louis and Ottawa.
Columbus at Tampa Bay 7:30 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning were carried by the dynamic goaltending duo of Ben Bishop and Andrei Vasilevskiy on their successful road trip, and the offense stepped up when they returned home on Wednesday. The Lightning look to build off a three-goal, third-period rally when they take on former coach John Tortorella and his visiting Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday.
Detroit at New Jersey 7:30 PM ET
Two teams coming off much-needed victories try to put together a winning streak when the Detroit Red Wings visit the New Jersey Devils on Friday. The Red Wings lost four straight before grinding out a 2-1 shootout win at Buffalo and New Jersey came home after three consecutive defeats in California to rally past Toronto for a 5-4 shootout triumph on Wednesday.
Vancouver at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
The Vancouver Canucks attempt to extend their point streak to four games Friday as they continue their three-game road trip with a matchup against the Dallas Stars. Vancouver, which is looking to win consecutive contests for the first time since opening the season with four straight triumphs, improved to 2-0-1 in its last three when it began its trek with a 4-1 victory at Arizona on Wednesday.
Edmonton at Arizona 9:00 PM ET
Arizona dominated Edmonton over the past three seasons, but these aren't your older brother's Oilers, who visit the Coyotes on Friday for the opener of a home-and-home series. Arizona has won 14 of the last 16 meetings, including nine of the past 10 since the start of 2014-15, but the emergence of superstar Connor McDavid could turn around this mismatch of late as the Coyotes do not appear ready to return to the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time since 2012.
