Preview Roundups
November 19, 2016
Tampa Bay at Philadelphia 1:00 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning are trying to get used to life without captain Steven Stamkos again, and look to extend their winning streak to four when they visit the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday afternoon. Stamkos, who had 20 points in 17 games to start the season, is out for about four months after undergoing knee surgery Thursday and the Lightning hope to draw on past success overcoming his loss.
New Jersey at Los Angeles 4:00 PM ET
With an ugly five-game road trip in their rear-view mirror, the Los Angeles Kings have a chance to make up ground in the Pacific Division as they continue a six-game stretch in which they barely need to leave the city limits. Los Angeles looks to run its home winning streak to four games when they host the New Jersey Devils on Saturday afternoon.
Edmonton at Dallas 7:00 PM ET
The Edmonton Oilers were the league's feel-good story for nearly the first month of the season but they have fallen into a familiar tailspin entering the finale of a three-game road trip at the Dallas Stars on Saturday night. Edmonton is mired in a five-game losing streak, including a 3-2 defeat at home to Dallas on Nov. 11.
Winnipeg at Boston 7:00 PM ET
The Boston Bruins have experienced more road success than any team in the NHL this season and look to bring those winning ways home when they entertain the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday. Boston plays four of its next five games at home following a 2-1-0 road trip that concluded with a last-minute loss Thursday in Minnesota and while the Bruins have won a league-leading seven road games, they are only 3-3 at home.
Pittsburgh at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
Less than 24 hours after rallying for an overtime victory, the Pittsburgh Penguins finish their stretch of three road games in four nights when they visit the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. Pittsburgh began its condensed trek with an embarrassing 7-1 loss at Washington on Wednesday and fell behind the New York Islanders two days later before Trevor Daley scored the tying goal and fellow defenseman Kris Letang netted the winner 1:24 into the extra session.
Toronto at Montreal 7:00 PM ET
The league-leading Montreal Canadiens look to end a disappointing week on a high note when they begin a three-game homestand on Saturday against the Original Six-rival Toronto Maple Leafs. Montreal stormed out of the gate this season with a 10-game point streak (9-0-1) and followed up its first regulation loss with a four-game winning streak but fell to 0-2-1 over the last six days with Friday's 3-2 setback in Carolina.
Florida at Ottawa 7:00 PM ET
Two teams coming off disappointing performances meet when the Florida Panthers visit the Ottawa Senators for an Atlantic Division battle Saturday night. The Panthers followed up two straight wins with a 6-1 loss in Toronto on Thursday while the Senators, who netted only 10 goals in their last eight games, were routed by Nashville 5-1 on the same night.
San Jose at Arizona 8:00 PM ET
Owning the fewest points in the NHL and riding a four-game losing streak, the Arizona Coyotes finally had a reason to feel positive when goaltender Mike Smith returned to the lineup Wednesday after missing nearly a month. Yet 24 hours later, an injury claimed another key player for Arizona, which hosts the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night.
Nashville at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues are finally starting to show signs of some consistency and look to complete a perfect three-game homestand when they host the Nashville Predators on Saturday night. St. Louis has rebounded from a three-game losing streak and looks to put together its first three-game winning streak since opening the season with a trio of victories.
Colorado at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
If the Hart Trophy were handed out today, Devan Dubnyk could be the one to grab it because the Minnesota Wild would be nowhere without their red-hot goaltender. Dubnyk leads the NHL in goals-against average (1.48), save percentage (.952) and shutouts (four) as Minnesota tries to start showing more support for its last line of defense when it hosts the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.
Chicago at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
The Central Division-leading Chicago Blackhawks attempt to make it two wins in as many nights when they continue their annual Circus Trip on Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks. Chicago kicked off its yearly trek Tuesday with a disappointing 4-0 loss at Winnipeg but rebounded to post a 3-2 comeback victory at Calgary on Friday that was capped by Marian Hossa's goal with 2:23 remaining in the third period.
