Preview Roundups
November 15, 2016
Ottawa at Philadelphia 7:00 PM ET
Steve Mason will see his workload increase with the news of fellow goaltender Michal Neuvirth being sidelined four-to-six weeks with a lower-body injury. The 28-year-old Mason is expected to begin that stretch on Tuesday as the Philadelphia Flyers open a three-game homestand against the Ottawa Senators.
San Jose at Carolina 7:00 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks were the best road team in the league in 2015-16 and are beginning to gain momentum on their longest trip of this campaign. The Sharks, who started the season 6-6-0 overall, go after their fourth consecutive victory to open a six-game trek Tuesday night when they take on the rejuvenated Carolina Hurricanes.
Washington at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets are the hottest offensive team in the league and get a serious test Tuesday as they go after a sixth consecutive victory at home when the stingy Washington Capitals pay a visit. The Blue Jackets posted at least eight goals for the second time in five games Saturday in the victory over St. Louis and lead the league in power-play percentage while standing second in scoring.
Nashville at Toronto 7:30 PM ET
Much has been made of top overall pick Auston Matthews' goal drought, although perhaps such is the case considering the 19-year-old took the NHL by storm after scoring four times in his NHL debut. While saying his nine-game drought is "very frustrating," Matthews admitted his defensive performance has improved as the Toronto Maple Leafs host the Nashville Predators on Tuesday to begin a stretch of three of four at home.
Florida at Montreal 7:30 PM ET
The Montreal Canadiens are in the unusual position of having to rebound from a rare loss when they host the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night. The Canadiens suffered only their second regulation defeat and third overall when they dropped a 3-2 decision at the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday night, snapping their four-game winning streak.
Tampa Bay at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
One day after beginning their five-game road trip with a shutout victory, the Tampa Bay Lightning continue it Tuesday against a team that was blanked in its last contest in the Atlantic Division-rival Detroit Red Wings. Tampa Bay continued its recent mastery of the New York Islanders with a 4-0 triumph Monday, outscoring the club 14-2 while sweeping the three-game season series in a span of two weeks.
Buffalo at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues are showing no resemblance to the team that finished second in the Central Division and advanced to the Western Conference finals last season. St. Louis has dropped three straight games and five of seven as they pepare to host the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday in the opener of a three-game homestand.
Calgary at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild may see the welcome return of a familiar face in their bid to ignite a sputtering offense. Sidelined since Oct. 27 with a foot injury, Zach Parise is expected to decide after Tuesday's morning skate if he can compete as the Minnesota Wild play their first contest at Xcel Energy Center in two weeks with the opener of a three-game homestand against the Calgary Flames.
Chicago at Winnipeg 8:00 PM ET
Many expected the Chicago Blackhawks to be one of the favorites for the Central Division title and they have played as well as anybody in the NHL through the season's first six weeks, but what about the Winnipeg Jets? Without a regulation loss in four straight, the surprising Jets have a winning record through 17 games and host Chicago on Tuesday trailing the division-leading Blackhawks by six points.
New Jersey at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
The New Jersey Devils aim for their fifth consecutive victory Tuesday as they take to the road to begin a four-game trip against the Dallas Stars. New Jersey begins its trek after completing home-and-home sweeps of Carolina and Buffalo, gliding to a 4-2 triumph over the Sabres on Saturday to improve to 6-0-1 on its own ice.
Los Angeles at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
The Los Angeles Kings' roller-coaster season has provided several exhilarating highs and pronounced lows, with winning streaks of four and three games intertwined around a trio of three-game losing skids. The Kings prepare to alter the course of their current bumpy ride and avoid a season-high fourth straight loss on Tuesday when they visit the Colorado Avalanche in the finale of a five-game road trip.
NY Rangers at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers have ripped off seven victories in their last eight games, but they get a chance to avenge their only loss during that span when they visit the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night. The Rangers have allowed more than two goals twice during the current 7-1-0 span, one of them being a 5-3 loss at home to Vancouver on Nov. 8.
Edmonton at Anaheim 10:00 PM ET
Edmonton captain Connor McDavid finds himself in the longest scoring drought of his career - a stretch of eight contests in which his team is 2-5-1 - as the Oilers try to snap a three-game losing streak when they visit the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday. McDavid still contributed seven assists during that span, including six in the last four games, but the shine is wearing off Edmonton's star after a 7-1-0 start left many Oilers fans thinking Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time since 2006.
