Preview Roundups
November 05, 2016
Minnesota at Colorado 3:00 PM ET
Bruce Boudreau is 10 games into his tenure as Minnesota Wild coach and is far from satisfied with the 13 points they've earned as they begin a four-game road trip against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday afternoon. Minnesota had a three-game winning streak snapped - all shutouts by Devan Dubnyk - with a 2-1 loss to Buffalo on Tuesday, prompting Boudreau to tell reporters: “Sometimes it’s a frustrating team. It can play so good one period and not show up for the (next) period.”
Columbus at St. Louis 7:00 PM ET
Just a day after putting on a franchise record-setting offensive display, the Columbus Blue Jackets hope to have some magic left in their sticks Saturday as they attempt to extend their winning streak to four games when they visit the St. Louis Blues. Columbus handed Montreal its first regulation loss of the season in explosive fashion on Friday, scoring a club-record 10 goals in its third shutout victory in six games.
NY Rangers at Boston 7:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers are on a roll but will face a tough test against a resurgent rival when they visit the Boston Bruins on Saturday night. The high-scoring Rangers have won three in a row and six of their last seven to move into a first-place tie with defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh atop the Metropolitan Division.
Vancouver at Toronto 7:00 PM ET
The Vancouver Canucks are struggling to ignite a sputtering offense in the midst of a seven-game losing skid (0-6-1) after rallying to victory in the first three contests of their season-opening four-game winning streak. Shut out in back-to-back contests and in four of its last five, Vancouver will vie for its first road win of the season on Saturday when it visits the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Philadelphia at Montreal 7:00 PM ET
Tight affairs have become the norm for the Philadelphia Flyers, who look to extend their winning streak to four games when they visit the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday. Each of Philadelphia's last six contests have been decided by one goal, with the club winning four overall and three in a row - including Thursday's shootout triumph over the Islanders in New York.
Buffalo at Ottawa 7:00 PM ET
Mike Condon made quite a first impression on his new team, and in the process gave himself quite an act to follow when the Ottawa Senators host the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. Condon had a memorable debut with Ottawa on Thursday, registering his second career shutout in a 1-0 win over Vancouver.
New Jersey at Tampa Bay 7:00 PM ET
The New Jersey Devils attempt to stretch their point streak to six games when they finish a short trip to the Sunshine State against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night. The Devils are 3-0-2 in their last five contests after losing for the third time in their four overtime games this season Thursday at Florida 4-3 and visit the Lightning for the second time in three weeks.
Edmonton at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders have dropped four of their last five games overall, but the club traditionally hasn't been a gracious host when the Edmonton Oilers make the lengthy trek east. The Islanders will vie for their 10th consecutive home victory over the Oilers on Saturday when they play the fourth contest of their five-game homestand.
Florida at Washington 7:00 PM ET
The Washington Capitals are starting to warm up on the offensive end and go after their fifth consecutive victory when the Florida Panthers pay a visit Saturday night. The Capitals coughed up a three-goal lead in the third period Thursday before captain Alex Ovechkin’s overtime goal gave them a 4-3 victory over Winnipeg – their fourth straight contest with at least three goals.
Carolina at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
It has not been a smooth start to the season for the Nashville Predators and they will try to get on track with four straight on home ice, beginning with a visit from the equally struggling Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday. The Predators come home after a 1-2-2 road trip with just three wins in their first 10 games overall and 14 goals at even strength – near the bottom of the league.
Chicago at Dallas 8:00 PM ET
Corey Crawford led the league in shutouts last season and his two blankings in his last three games have him in the early mix for that distinction again. The 31-year-old looks to continue his torrid stretch as the Blackhawks bid for their fifth straight victory on Saturday when they visit the Central Division-rival Dallas Stars in the opener of a home-and-home series.
Calgary at Los Angeles 10:00 PM ET
After ending both a pronounced scoring drought and a three-game losing skid in their last contest, the Los Angeles Kings are hoping that Saturday's visit from the Calgary Flames will be just what the doctor ordered to keep their offense going. After all, Los Angeles erupted for 14 goals in four games last season to sweep its Pacific Division rival.
Pittsburgh at San Jose 10:30 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks have a vivid memory of the last visit by the Pittsburgh Penguins, which ended with Sidney Crosby and company taking turns hoisting the Stanley Cup after closing out a six-game series. With the stakes much lower this time, the Penguins will wrap up a four-game road trip against the Sharks on Saturday.
