Preview Roundups
March 16, 2017
Philadelphia at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
The New Jersey Devils hope to avoid their worst winless streak in 26 years and continue their success in the series with a major rival when they host the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday. The Devils have dropped 10 straight (0-8-2) - their longest slide since 2013 - but have outscored the Flyers 8-1 in a pair of victories this season and earned points in seven of the last eight meetings (6-1-1).
Winnipeg at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
Captain John Tavares has long since been the face of the New York Islanders, however, promising rookie Josh Ho-Sang is turning heads as well. The duo looks to help the Islanders continue both their good fortune at home as well as their success against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday when the clubs complete their two-game season series.
Nashville at Washington 7:00 PM ET
Filip Forsberg's name isn't well received by many of the fans of the Washington Capitals, and for good reason. Forsberg looks to continue to torment the team that made him a first-round draft pick in 2012 and summarily traded him away to Nashville the following season when the Predators visit the NHL-leading Capitals on Thursday.
Chicago at Ottawa 7:30 PM ET
Patrick Kane has ratcheted up his play with 16 goals and 27 points in his last 17 games, leading the Chicago Blackhawks to a 14-3-0 mark in that span and a perch atop the Western Conference. The reigning Hart Trophy winner will look to continue his torrid display without a key linemate on Thursday as the Blackhawks visit the Ottawa Senators in the second contest of their three-game Canadian road trip.
Toronto at Tampa Bay 7:30 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning dealt three important veterans before the March 1 trade deadline and instead of looking toward next season, they are surging toward playoff position in the Eastern Conference. The Lightning face one of those players Thursday as they go after a fifth straight victory when the Toronto Maple Leafs pay a visit for an Atlantic Division tussle.
Boston at Edmonton 9:00 PM ET
The Boston Bruins attempt to move closer to first place in the Atlantic Division when they continue their four-game road trip Thursday against the Edmonton Oilers. Boston occupies third place in the Atlantic but climbed within four points of Montreal for the top spot with Wednesday's 5-2 triumph in Calgary.
Dallas at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
The Dallas Stars are staggering toward the finish line and on the verge of a first to near-worst finish in the Western Conference. The No. 1 seed in the West last season, Dallas had dropped three in a row in ugly fashion and continues its four-game road trip against the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.
Detroit at Arizona 10:00 PM ET
The Arizona Coyotes are starting to rebuild some confidence that they can carry into next season and will look to push their winning streak to four games when the struggling Detroit Red Wings pay a visit Thursday night. Arizona is 4-1-1 in its last six contests after outlasting Los Angeles 3-2 in an 11-round shootout Tuesday as Max Domi scored late in regulation to tie it and Louis Domingue turned aside 44 shots.
Buffalo at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
The Los Angeles Kings enjoyed a bit of optimism by recording wins in three of the first four contests of their seven-game homestand, only to see the mood change as their playoff aspirations took a hit following back-to-back losses. The Kings look to pick themselves off the mat on Thursday as they welcome the reeling Buffalo Sabres to the Staples Center.
St. Louis at San Jose 10:30 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks have a fairly comfortable lead in the race for the Pacific Division crown and still have first place in the Western Conference within their reach. San Jose, which sits two points behind Chicago for the top spot, continues its quest when it hosts the St. Louis Blues on Thursday.
