Preview Roundups
March 11, 2019
Tampa Bay at Toronto 7:00 PM ET
The Toronto Maple Leafs are losing ground in the race for second place in the Atlantic Division despite a 6-1-1 run, and it won’t get any easier when they host the NHL-best Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday night. The Maple Leafs are four points behind Boston, which went 19 games without a regulation loss before Sunday's setback, for the second spot in the Atlantic after a 2-0-1 trek through Western Canada that ended with a 3-2 win at Edmonton on Saturday.
Columbus at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders' path toward their first division title since the 1987-88 season has taken a slight detour with six losses in their last 10 contests (4-5-1). The Islanders bid to get back on track and continue their dominance of the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday when the Metropolitan Division rivals reconvene at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Ottawa at Philadelphia 7:00 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers occupied the basement of the NHL just under two months ago before steadily ascending in the Eastern Conference on the strength of a sizzling 17-4-2 run. The Flyers look to continue their bid for a stunning turnaround on Monday when they host the league-worst Ottawa Senators, who were the first team to be mathematically eliminated from postseason contention.
San Jose at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild have had plenty of time to recover from their whirlwind stretch of playing five contests in seven days. Presumably refreshed, the Wild open a season-high five-game homestand on Monday against a San Jose Sharks club that saw Timo Meier score five goals in its last four contests.
Arizona at Chicago 8:30 PM ET
The Arizona Coyotes hope to ride the momentum from a successful homestand when they hit the road for the first of two games, starting with a matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday night. The Coyotes knocked off Los Angeles 4-2 on Saturday to complete a 6-1-0 stretch at Gila River Arena and have won eight of nine overall to sit one point away from the second-wild card spot in the Western Conference.
Carolina at Colorado 9:00 PM ET
A pair of teams fighting for a shot at the postseason look to build off strong rebound performances when the Colorado Avalanche host the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday night. Carolina won at Nashville 5-3 on Saturday after suffering an embarrassing 8-1 setback just 24 hours earlier while the Avalanche recovered from a shutout loss to Dallas by blanking Buffalo 3-0 on Saturday.
NY Rangers at Edmonton 9:00 PM ET
Leon Draisaitl and captain Connor McDavid haven't been shy about producing points on the scoreboard for the Edmonton Oilers, who can use all they can get in the standings. The Oilers look to rebound after seeing their season high-tying four-game winning streak halted when they host the New York Rangers on Monday night.
