Preview Roundups
February 11, 2017
Vancouver at Boston 1:00 PM ET
The Boston Bruins opened the Bruce Cassidy era on a high note, matching a season-high goal output in a win over San Jose in their first game since longtime coach Claude Julien was fired. Boston will look to move above .500 at TD Garden when it continues a four-game homestand against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday afternoon.
NY Islanders at Ottawa 1:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders are riding high with points in 10 of their last 11 games (8-1-2) and look to continue their surge at a place that has been very accommodating of late. The Islanders attempt to maintain their recent dominance of the Ottawa Senators on Saturday afternoon as they boast a 4-0-1 mark in their last five encounters in Canada's capital city.
San Jose at Philadelphia 1:00 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks have dropped three in a row and four of six following a season-high six-game winning streak while the Philadelphia Flyers have lost three straight and 16 of 23 (7-12-4) on the heels of a campaign-best 10-game victorious run. The clubs look to get back on track at the other's expense on Saturday afternoon at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
Florida at Nashville 2:00 PM ET
The Florida Panthers begin a five-game road trip that will go a long way toward determining their playoff fate Saturday when they visit the Nashville Predators. The Panthers won’t take any momentum into the trek, which includes three contests in California, after suffering a 6-3 loss to Los Angeles at home on Thursday - a game that caused coach Tom Rowe to tell reporters he would burn the tape.
Carolina at Dallas 2:00 PM ET
A rough start to the month has pushed the Dallas Stars back in their pursuit of a playoff spot. Dallas hopes to begin its upward climb Saturday afternoon as it looks to snap a four-game slide when it hosts the Carolina Hurricanes.
Detroit at Columbus 5:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets opened their seven-game homestand with a thud, earning a tongue lashing by coach John Tortorella after falling for the ninth time in 16 contests since posting a franchise-best 16-game winning streak. The Blue Jackets will look for more enthusiasm and a far better result on Saturday when they host the Detroit Red Wings.
Tampa Bay at Winnipeg 7:00 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning look to extend their point streak to four games before getting a week off when they visit the fading Winnipeg Jets on Saturday. The Lightning knocked off Anaheim and Los Angeles - both playoff-positioned teams - at home before falling 2-1 in a shootout at Western Conference-leading Minnesota on Friday to escape the basement in the East.
Buffalo at Toronto 7:00 PM ET
When the 2016-17 schedule was released, few people would have circled Saturday's game between the Buffalo Sabres and host Toronto Maple Leafs as relevant to the playoff picture. But with Toronto third in the Atlantic Division and Buffalo six points out of a wild-card spot in the tightly-packed Eastern Conference, the two or three points up for grabs are crucial toward each team's postseason pursuit.
St. Louis at Montreal 7:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues received an immediate bump from a change behind the bench and will look to remain perfect on their five-game road trip when they visit the Atlantic Division-leading Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night. St. Louis has won the first three games of its trek to improve to 4-1-0 since coach Ken Hitchcock was dismissed.
Colorado at NY Rangers 7:00 PM ET
Henrik Lundqvist has a chance to reach a major milestone when the resurgent New York Rangers host the NHL-worst Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night. Lundqvist, in his 12th season with New York, is bidding to become the 12th goaltender in league history to register 400 career victories.
Anaheim at Washington 7:30 PM ET
The Washington Capitals try to extend their winning streak to six games and vie for their 12th straight victory at home Saturday when they host the Anaheim Ducks. The Capitals, who are 18-2-1 in their last 21 games after Thursday's 6-3 victory over Detroit, lead the Metropolitan Division by eight points over Pittsburgh and own the NHL's best record as they try for their second straight Presidents' Trophy.
Pittsburgh at Arizona 8:00 PM ET
After being held off the scoresheet for just the fifth time in the new year, captain Sidney Crosby continues his quest to reach the 1,000-point milestone on Saturday as the Pittsburgh Penguins conclude a two-game road trip against the Arizona Coyotes. Although Crosby was held in check, Pittsburgh scored four goals for the fourth time in five games and improved to 8-2-1 in its last 11 with a 4-1 triumph at Colorado on Thursday.
Chicago at Edmonton 10:00 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks attempt to conclude their six-game road trip with a fifth consecutive victory when they visit the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. Chicago kicked off its trek with a loss in San Jose but has reeled off four straight wins, including Friday's 5-2 triumph at Winnipeg.
