Preview Roundups
November 19, 2017
Coppin St. at Rutgers 12:30 PM ET
Second-year coach Steve Pikiell hopes his Rutgers team keeps playing like it did Tuesday when the Scarlet Knights host winless Coppin State on Sunday -- and not like the game before. After squeaking by Central Connecticut State 71-67, Rutgers used a all-around team effort to knock off Cleveland State 70-38 for a 3-0 start.
Texas A&M CC at Georgia 1:00 PM ET
Yante Maten is off to a strong start to his senior season, but the Georgia center also is showing the leadership qualities the Bulldogs need as they wrap up a three-game homestand against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Sunday. The Bulldogs struggled in Tuesday’s 74-65 victory over South Carolina-Upstate, trailing by five points with 6:40 to play, but Maten’s calming influence – along with 22 points and 14 rebounds – helped Georgia dodge the upset.
Monmouth-NJ at Virginia 1:00 PM ET
After serving as a role player last season, Kyle Guy is ready to take the next step in his career. The sophomore guard aims to lead Virginia to a 4-0 start Sunday when the Cavaliers host Monmouth in non-league action.
Bethune-Cookman at Georgia Tech 2:00 PM ET
Georgia Tech’s beginning of the season has been anything but smooth, from losing two starters to suspension to an eight-day road trip to China and a hard-fought loss to UCLA in the season opener. Now with a full week off after returning home, the Yellow Jackets host Bethune-Cookman on Sunday looking for a sense of normalcy while waiting for the return of Josh Okogie and Tadric Jackson – who combined to average 28.2 points and 7.6 rebounds last season.
North Dakota at Nebraska 2:00 PM ET
Nebraska failed its first test of the season but doesn't have much time to dwell on the defeat. The Cornhuskers are back on the court Sunday for a matinee matchup with North Dakota.
Northeastern at Ohio St. 2:00 PM ET
After failing to take a significant leap last season, Keita Bates-Diop appears poised to take that giant step this year. The junior forward aims to lead Ohio State past visiting Northeastern when the teams square off Sunday.
UC Irvine at Arizona State 2:00 PM ET

Arizona State is off to a sizzling offensive start, topping 90 points in three straight games for the first time since 1993. The Sun Devils will look to keep rolling Sunday afternoon when they close out their four-game season-opening homestand against UC Irvine.

South Carolina at Western Michigan 2:00 PM ET
South Carolina coach Frank Martin is still trying to figure out the buttons he needs to press with his young team this year after last season's veteran squad made a surprise Final Four run, but his team's most recent performance suggests he may be getting through to them. Coming off their most lopsided victory of the season, the Gamecocks look to sustain their mental focus Sunday when they face Western Michigan in the fifth-place game of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off in Conway, S.C.
Houston at Wake Forest 2:30 PM ET
Corey Davis Jr.'s last second basket sent Houston to Sunday's fourth-place game at the Paradise Jam in Lynchburg, Va., where it will meet Wake Forest. Davis' heroics allowed the Cougars to survive a nip-and-tuck battle with host Liberty 68-66 on Saturday and will give them a chance to leave the tournament with two victories should they defeat the Demon Deacons.
Boston College at La Salle 3:00 PM ET
Boston College hopes to get guard Jerome Robinson going and to clean up its act a bit ahead of a matchup with La Salle on Sunday in a consolation game of the Hall of Fame Tip-Off at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. Robinson, who led the Eagles in scoring (18.7) a season ago, is averaging just 7.7 on 25 percent shooting in the last three games after a sluggish 10-point outing in Saturday's 75-64 loss to Texas Tech.
Stony Brook at Michigan St 4:00 PM ET
No. 2 Michigan State looks to bounce back after a disappointing loss to No. 1 Duke when it returns home to host Stony Brook on Sunday afternoon. The Spartans fell to the Blue Devils on Tuesday in the Champions Classic in Chicago for their first loss of the season, while the Seawolves are looking for their first victory of the campaign.
Western Carolina at Minnesota 4:30 PM ET
Minnesota boasts an abundance of offensive weapons that have helped the team average 95 points in the first three games, and it also owns one of the best final lines of defense in the nation with senior Reggie Lynch. The 6-10 center entered the weekend leading the country with 17 blocked shots and hopes to swat a few more when the 15th-ranked Golden Gophers host Western Carolina on Sunday afternoon.
Colorado St. at Florida State 5:00 PM ET
Florida State closes out its trip to Montego Bay for the Jamaica Classic with a meeting with Colorado State on Sunday. The Seminoles rolled past Fordham 67-43 on Friday in their opening game of the tournament, while the Rams couldn't overcome a 14-point first half in an 80-53 loss to Tulane.
Marshall at Illinois 5:00 PM ET
Illinois looks to continue its winning ways when it hosts Marshall as part of the Global Sports Invitational on Sunday. The Fighting Illini have won three straight games to open the season, including an 82-73 victory against DePaul in the Gavitt Games, and hope to extend their non-conference regular-season winning streak to nine games in the first ever meeting with the Thundering Herd.
Illinois St. at Tulsa 5:00 PM ET
Frank Haith has watched Tulsa put together two very solid halves of offense during its stay in Conway, S.C. this week, but unfortunately for his team's tournament aspirations, they didn't come in the same game. The Golden Hurricane and their fourth-year coach continue to search for a strong 40-minute showing Sunday when they square off against Illinois State in the third-place game of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
Texas Tech at Northwestern 5:00 PM ET
After a disappointing defensive effort in a recent home loss, No. 20 Northwestern came to the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament in Connecticut looking to show improvement in that area. The Wildcats were able to step up their intensity on defense to reach the title game of the event Sunday against Texas Tech.
New Hampshire at Florida 6:00 PM ET
Florida opened the season by scoring at least 100 points in the first two games for the first time in its history and looks to continue that dominance when New Hampshire pays a visit on Sunday night. The Gators scored 116 against Gardner-Webb on Monday and rolled to a 108-68 victory over North Florida on Thursday, but they know improvement on the other end of the court is needed to reach their goals.
South Florida at Indiana 6:00 PM ET
The Hoosier Tip-Off Classic continues for Indiana on Sunday when South Florida comes to Assembly Hall for the first ever meeting between the teams. The Hoosiers attempt to rebound from a slow start while USF is looking to win consecutive games for the first time since Nov. 28-Dec. 1, 2016.
Boston U at Connecticut 6:00 PM ET
Jalen Adams scored all of his 19 points in the second half to lift Connecticut to a come-from-behind victory over Stony Brook last time out. Adams and the Huskies look to stay unbeaten when they host Boston University on Sunday.
Auburn at Hofstra 7:00 PM ET

Auburn and Hofstra will try to salvage a winning weekend when they square off in the third-place game of the Gildan Charleston Classic in South Carolina on Sunday. The Tigers and Pride both split their first two games in the tournament, with each suffering their first loss in Friday’s semifinals.

Tulane at Fordham 7:30 PM ET
On the heels of their 80-53 win over Colorado State on Friday, Tulane looks to run its record to 4-0 Sunday in its final matchup of the Jamaica Classic in Montego Bay. The Green Wave face a Fordham team that was easily dismissed by Florida State 67-43 in its tournament opener.
Boise St. at Iowa State 7:30 PM ET
Prior to its trip to Conway, S.C. this week, Iowa State appeared to be headed nowhere fast and staring at a long season, but the decision to allow Nick Weiler-Babb to run the show has Steve Prohm's young team feeling good about itself again. The Cyclones look to finish off an unlikely run to a regular-season tournament title Sunday when they face Boise State in the championship game of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
Southern California at Vanderbilt 8:00 PM ET
No. 11 USC hits the road for the first time this season when it visits Vanderbilt on Sunday night. And the Trojans, who have Final Four aspirations with a squad that returns all five starters from a school-record 26-win team, will be looking to put together a much more complete game than their last contest, a sloppy 75-65 victory over visiting North Dakota State.
St. Mary's at San Jose St. 8:00 PM ET
No. 22 Saint Mary's, which has won 29 games in back-to-back seasons, has opened the season with three straight home wins. But now the Gaels hit the road for the next two weeks starting with a short bus ride to San Jose State on Sunday night.
Mercer at Colorado 8:30 PM ET
McKinley Wright IV was a difference-maker once again for Colorado, which will square off against Mercer on Sunday in the championship game of Paradise Jam in Lynchburg, Va. Wright scored 21 points and dished out nine assists as the Buffaloes withstood a late charge from Drake before posting an 86-81 victory in the semifinals to set up the meeting with the Bears.
Ball St. at Oregon 9:00 PM ET

New-look Oregon is off to a strong start as it prepares to close out a four-game season-opening homestand Sunday against Ball State. The Ducks, who lost seven of their top 10 scorers – including a trio of NBA Draft picks – from last season’s Final Four squad, are 3-0 so far with an average margin of victory of 35.7 points.

Temple at Clemson 9:30 PM ET

Clemson hopes to keep the Gildan Charleston Classic title in South Carolina on Sunday as it takes on Temple in a rematch of the tournament’s 2008 championship game. The Tigers are 7-1 all-time in the tournament, including a crown in 2008 and a runner-up finish in 2013.
