Preview Roundups
November 15, 2017
Indiana at Seton Hall 6:30 PM ET
The Archie Miller era at Indiana is off to difficult start and it won't get any easier during Wednesday's game at No. 23 Seton Hall in the Gavitt Tip-off Games. After being blown out in their opener and scratching out a win in their second game, the Hoosiers could be in for a long night against the Pirates, who have won 18 straight non-conference games at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
UC Santa Barbara at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
Likely due to a complete roster overhaul, only a sparse crowd came out Monday night to support Pittsburgh in its home opener against Montana, an 83-78 overtime setback. The Panthers started three freshmen in a game for the first time since 1977 and will likely do the same when they host UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday night.
Gardner-Webb at Central Florida 7:00 PM ET
Central Florida, one of the preseason American Athletic Conference favorites, will have to overcome early-season injuries. The Knights host Gardner-Webb on Wednesday missing two key contributors, and potentially three, by the time tip-off comes around.
Montana at Penn St. 7:00 PM ET
Penn State hosts Montana in the regional portion of the Legends Classic on Wednesday. The Nittany Lions opened the season with an 86-75 victory against Campbell before downing Fairleigh Dickinson 81-57, and they hope to extend their winning streak to three games in their first ever meeting with the Grizzlies.
Radford at East Carolina 7:00 PM ET
Despite playing without projected starting point guard Jeremy Sheppard, who was dismissed from the team in the preseason, East Carolina rolled past Coppin State in its opener Sunday. The Pirates are back in action Wednesday when they host Radford in a non-conference game.
Mount St. Mary's at Georgetown 7:00 PM ET
The Patrick Ewing effect is already doing wonders for Jessie Govan and Georgetown, who can get off to a 2-0 start with a victory Wednesday against visiting Mount St. Mary's. Govan recorded his third career double-double in the season opener and now will have an opportunity to take advantage of the Mountaineer's mostly inexperienced big men.
American U. at West Virginia 7:00 PM ET
No. 10 West Virginia did not enjoy its trip to Germany -- and will look to get right on on more-familiar soil as it hosts American on Wednesday night. The Mountaineers were soundly outplayed for most of the game as they dropped an 88-65 decision to Texas A&M on Saturday at Ramstein Air Base.
Bucknell at North Carolina 8:00 PM ET
Luke Maye needs to become more of a factor as the only returning post player for defending national champion North Carolina and, if the season opener is any indication, the 6-8 junior will be just fine. Maye looks to follow up an impressive double-double performance with another strong effort when the ninth-ranked Tar Heels host experienced Bucknell on Wednesday night.
South Florida at Stetson 8:00 PM ET
Any momentum South Florida looked to build in the early part of the season went out the window in the second game of the season. The Bulls hope to get back on track as they travel to undefeated Stetson on Wednesday for the first road game of the season.
Niagara at Minnesota 8:00 PM ET
No. 15 Minnesota will try to avoid an emotional letdown after a huge road victory when it returns home Wednesday night to take on improving Niagara in a non-conference contest. The Golden Gophers put up 50 points and shot better than 60 percent from the field in the second half to rally for an impressive 86-74 victory in front of a raucous crowd at Providence on Monday.
Northwestern St. at Southern Methodist 8:00 PM ET
SMU junior guard Shake Milton added to his early-season honors as the Mustangs prepare to host winless Northwestern State on Wednesday. Milton was named one of the 50 candidates for the Wooden Award this week after being named to the preseason Naismith Trophy, Lute Olson Award and Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year awards.
Ball St. at Oklahoma 8:00 PM ET

Oklahoma figures to be an exciting team to watch with home-grown freshman guard Trae Young running the offense. The Sooners look to build on their second-highest scoring output under coach Lon Kruger when they host Ball State on Wednesday.

Butler at Maryland 8:30 PM ET

Two teams on the cusp of the Top 25 square off Wednesday, when Maryland hosts Butler in the Gavitt Tipoff Games, which pits teams from the Big East and Big Ten against one another for early-season clashes. It’s the first true test for both teams after coasting to 2-0 records.

Creighton at Northwestern 9:00 PM ET
No. 20 Northwestern faces its first test of the young season when it hosts Creighton on Wednesday. The Wildcats started the new campaign with back-to-back victories, including a 75-66 win over Saint Peter's on Monday, and hope to slow down the Bluejays' high-powered offense, which is averaging 100.5 points over their first two contests, as they search for their third win in four matchups against Big East opponents.
Seattle at Washington St. 9:00 PM ET
If Washington State's season opening win over Texas Southern is any indication, Cougars fans better be ready to fasten their seat belts. Washington State, which rallied from a 22-point first half deficit on Sunday to defeat the Tigers 86-84 in overtime, host high-scoring Seattle on Wednesday night.
South Dakota at Texas Christian 9:00 PM ET
If there were any questions about TCU's ability to shoot 3-pointers, those have been answered. Coming off a dazzling shooting display, the Horned Frogs on Wednesday host South Dakota, which is putting up plenty of points itself.
Cal St. Fullerton at St. Mary's 10:00 PM ET
The search for the best triumvirate in college basketball might begin and end at Saint Mary’s, where seniors Emmett Naar, Calvin Hermanson and Jock Landale could lead the 22nd-ranked Gaels deep into the postseason. The trio looks to continue its hot start Wednesday against visiting Cal State Fullerton, which was picked to finish third in the Big West preseason media poll.
Central Arkansas at UCLA 11:00 PM ET

UCLA hosts Central Arkansas on Wednesday night in its home opener, but it’s what’s been happening off the court that’s dominated the early-season headlines so far for the 18th-ranked Bruins. Three UCLA freshmen – LiAngelo Ball, Jalen Hill and Cody Riley – were arrested and jailed on shoplifting allegations last week on the team’s visit to China and the trio
