Preview Roundups
March 24, 2019
Iowa at Tennessee 12:10 PM ET
Second-seeded Tennessee is one victory away from the Sweet 16 and looks to get there when it meets 10th-seed Iowa in the second round of the South Region on Sunday in Columbus, Ohio, but the Volunteers know they must play better from start to finish. The Volunteers showed spurts of their regular-season form in a first-round victory over Colgate on Friday, but a 14-point second-half lead evaporated before Tennessee pulled away late.
Wichita St. at Clemson 2:00 PM ET
Wichita State hopes to pull off a second straight upset on Sunday when the sixth-seeded Shockers go on the road to face No. 2-seed Clemson in the second round of the NIT. The depth of the Shockers was a huge factor in their first-round 76-70 victory over third-seeded Furman as freshman Erik Stevenson scored 12 points off the bench to lead a second-unit that outscored the Paladins by a 25-3 margin.
Washington at North Carolina 2:40 PM ET
Washington’s Jekyll-and-Hyde season continues Sunday in Columbus, Ohio, where the ninth-seeded Huskies face top-seeded North Carolina in a Midwest Region second-round matchup of the NCAA Tournament. Washington limped into the postseason but turned in a stellar performance in the first round, cruising past eighth-seeded Utah State 78-61 for its first NCAA Tournament victory since 2011.
Xavier at Texas 4:00 PM ET
After a sluggish end to the regular season landed them in the NIT, Texas prevailed in its postseason opener and now must contend with Xavier when the teams square off Sunday. The second-seeded Longhorns will host the third-seeded Musketeers, who scuffled early in the season before coming on down the stretch.
Central Florida at Duke 5:15 PM ET

After breezing through its first-round game, top-seeded Duke figures to face a stiffer challenge when it takes on No. 9 seed Central Florida in the second round of the NCAA Tournament East Region on Sunday in Columbia, S.C. Duke fans will see a familiar face on the opposing bench, as UCF coach Johnny Dawkins is the Blue Devils’ No. 2 all-time scorer and was an assistant at his alma mater from 1998-2008.

Buffalo at Texas Tech 6:10 PM ET
An elite defense clashes with a potent offense Sunday when No. 3 seed Texas Tech meets sixth-seeded Buffalo in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Tulsa, Okla. The Red Raiders shook off a slow start before ousting Northern Kentucky 72-57 on Thursday in the first round of the West Region, holding the Norse more than 22 points below their season average, while Buffalo routed Arizona State and its former coach Bobby Hurley 91-74.
Liberty at Virginia Tech 7:10 PM ET
Liberty rallied for its first NCAA Tournament win in school history Friday around the same time that Virginia Tech was notching its first victory in the event in 12 years. The 12th-seeded Flames will try to put together a Cinderella run all the way to the Sweet 16 when they take on the fourth-seeded Hokies on Saturday in the second round of the East Region in San Jose, Calif.
Harvard at NC State 7:30 PM ET
Harvard visits North Carolina State in the second round of the NIT on Sunday. The Crimson, a six seed, advanced with a road win over Georgetown, while the third-seeded Wolfpack got past Hofstra in the first round.
Oklahoma at Virginia 7:45 PM ET
Virginia did not get off to the start expected Friday, but it roared back from a double-digit first-half deficit to defeat No. 16 seed Gardner-Webb 71-56 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Next up for the top-seeded Cavaliers is a South Region matchup in Columbia, S.C. on Sunday with No. 9 seed Oklahoma, which comes off a 95-72 spanking of Ole Miss.
Ohio St. at Houston 8:40 PM ET
Houston has won NCAA Tournament games in consecutive seasons for the first time in 35 years and the third-seeded Cougars seek their first trip to the Sweet 16 since 1984 when they meet 11th seed Ohio State in the second round of the Midwest Region on Sunday in Tulsa, Okla. Houston rolled to an 84-55 victory over Georgia State on Friday in the first round as senior guard Corey Davis Jr. poured in 26 points.
Nebraska at Texas Christian 9:30 PM ET
Isaiah Roby admitted that Nebraska was not pumped for last year's NIT after the team was snubbed by the NCAA Tournament. Top seed TCU found itself in the same situation this season, coming out sluggish against Sam Houston State after getting ignored by the NCAA, but the Horned Frogs managed to survive and host the fourth-seeded Cornhuskers on Sunday in the second round.
UC Irvine at Oregon 9:40 PM ET

Eight double-digit seeds have crashed the NCAA Tournament’s Round of 32. And there will be at least one in the Sweet 16 as 13th-seeded UC Irvine takes on 12th-seeded Oregon on Sunday night in a second-round South Regional game in San Jose, Calif.
