Preview Roundups
February 01, 2017
Penn St. at Indiana 6:30 PM ET
A season that once had high hopes is quickly turning into a nightmare for Indiana coach Tom Crean. With injuries mounting and consecutive road losses in the rear view mirror, the Hoosiers will try and muster up one last charge when they begin a stretch of three out of four at home when Penn State visits Wednesday.
Alabama at Arkansas 7:00 PM ET
Alabama has responded well since playing its worst game of the season, and Arkansas hopes to follow suit as it hosts the SEC-rival Crimson Tide on Wednesday night. The Razorbacks suffered a humbling 28-point loss at Oklahoma State on Saturday and could be in tough against an Alabama side that has won eight of 10.
Georgia Tech at Clemson 7:00 PM ET
Georgia Tech has used the momentum of three upsets of ranked teams to build its best ACC start in seven years, and now the challenge is to find success on the road starting Wednesday at Clemson. The Yellow Jackets, playing for the first time since freshman Josh Okogie’s buzzer-beating layup stunned Notre Dame on Saturday, are 2-5 away from home and play three of the next five on the road.
Syracuse at N.C. State 7:00 PM ET
Syracuse finally has a signature win but something still is missing this season: a victory away from home. The Orange will try to earn that elusive result when they travel to North Carolina State on Wednesday.
Central Florida at Houston 7:00 PM ET
Central Florida will attempt to halt a season-worst three-game losing streak Wednesday, when it travels to face Houston for an American Athletic Conference contest. The Knights their meeting earlier this season, but the Cougars are coming off back-to-back victories and will be looking to exact revenge.
Villanova at Providence 7:00 PM ET
It's only been 1 1/2 weeks since Villanova last faced Providence, although in a way, it feels like a lifetime ago. Following two dramatic games with contrasting finishes, the fourth-ranked Wildcats tangle with the Friars again on Wednesday, this time on Providence's home floor.
Marquette at St. John's 7:00 PM ET
Steve Wojciechowski saw the best and the worst of his Marquette team last week and can't be too sure which will show for Wednesday's Big East game at St. John's. The Golden Eagles knocked off then-No. 1 Villanova for their second victory against a top ranked team only to allow Providence to record its first win in Milwaukee in 11 attempts four days later.
Texas Christian at Kansas St. 7:30 PM ET

A once-promising season suddenly is threatening to veer off the rails for TCU, which has lost four straight. The Horned Frogs will try to get back on track Wednesday night when they head north to visit Kansas State for a Big 12 contest.

Florida St. at Miami-Florida 8:00 PM ET
Florida State visits Miami (Fla.) on Wednesday for the third game of a road trip that has thus far resulted in two defeats and seen the Seminoles drop from eighth to 16th in the rankings. It doesn't figure to get much easier for Florida State against the Hurricanes, who are coming off an impressive 77-62 victory over then-No. 6 North Carolina and have won 23 of their last 24 home games.
Virginia Tech at Virginia 8:00 PM ET
No. 11 Virginia will try to pick itself up off the floor after a heartbreaking non-conference loss when it hosts rival Virginia Tech on Wednesday in an ACC showdown. The Cavaliers, who trail first-place North Carolina by one-half game in the conference, had ripped off five straight league wins before falling at No. 4 Villanova 61-59 on a put-back at the buzzer Sunday.
Northwestern at Purdue 8:30 PM ET
Northwestern is making some noise on the basketball court, and the Wildcats seek their seventh consecutive victory when they visit No. 24 Purdue on Wednesday. The Wildcats have won six consecutive conference games -- the program's longest streak since winning seven in a row in 1932-33 -- and appear to be headed to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
South Carolina at Louisiana State 9:00 PM ET

No. 20 South Carolina looks to maintain its road warrior status when it pays a visit to LSU on Wednesday. The Gamecocks are looking for their fifth true road win of the season and fourth in SEC play.

Texas Tech at Texas 9:00 PM ET
Texas Tech will try to pick up its first Big 12 road win of the year when it visits longtime rival Texas on Wednesday night. The Red Raiders have lost 20 consecutive games in Austin, a streak that dates back to the 1995-96 season when both teams were in the Southwest Conference.
Cincinnati at Tulsa 9:00 PM ET
Long known and feared for its rugged defense, Cincinnati is serving notice it could be primed for a deeper-than-usual run in March thanks to an offense the likes of which the Bearcats have not sported in 20 years. No. 14 Cincinnati looks to remain undefeated in conference play and attempts to secure its 13th consecutive victory Wednesday when it visits Tulsa.
UCLA at Washington St. 9:00 PM ET
UCLA is hoping a weekend off will be enough to help the No. 8 Bruins bounce back from consecutive losses when they visit Washington State in a Pac-12 game Wednesday. The Bruins and Oregon were the first teams to open conference play when they met Dec. 28, and UCLA was the last team to get its bye, a long stretch without a break that might explain their recent losses to No. 5 Arizona and USC following a 19-1 start.
Baylor at Kansas 9:00 PM ET
With the numbers stacked against Baylor in a battle for the Big 12 lead Wednesday at No. 2 Kansas, it’s a good thing Johnathan Motley is playing his best basketball of the season. The 6-10 junior, who is the only player in the conference to rank in the top five in scoring (fifth at 16.2 points) and rebounding (first at 9.2), has played even better in the last four games, averaging 22 points and 11.5 rebounds as the Bears improved to 20-1 - the best start in program history.
Seton Hall at Xavier 9:00 PM ET
No. 25 Xavier plays its first game without standout sophomore guard Edmond Sumner when it hosts struggling Seton Hall on Wednesday night in a Big East contest. Sumner, who averages 15 points and five assists, suffered a torn ACL in Sunday’s 82-77 victory over St. John’s and is lost for the season as the Musketeers try to stay afloat in the league race.
East Carolina at Southern Methodist 9:30 PM ET
SMU looks to extend its home winning streak to 18 games when it faces East Carolina on Wednesday. The red-hot Mustangs, who have won 14 of their last 15 games, beat UCF 65-60 on Jan. 25 to stay hot on the trail of No. 14 Cincinnati for first place in the American Athletic Conference, and are on the brink of entering the Top 25 after receiving 33 votes in the latest USA Today Coaches Poll.
Southern California at Washington 11:00 PM ET
USC forward Bennie Boatwright is a game-time decision for the Pac-12 matchup Wednesday at Washington after missing the last two months with a knee injury. Boatwright, a 6-10 sophomore, played four full games with the Trojans and was a force in the frontcourt before suffering the injury early in a win Nov. 30 against San Diego.
