Preview Roundups
March 03, 2019
Portland at Charlotte 1:00 PM ET
The Portland Trail Blazers nearly made it five straight wins to begin their seven-game road trip before falling 119-117 at Toronto on Friday. The Trail Blazers, who already knocked off Eastern Conference playoff contenders Brooklyn, Philadelphia and Boston on the trip, will try to bounce back against a team hanging onto the bottom of the top eight when they visit the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday.
Houston at Boston 3:30 PM ET
The Boston Celtics ended their four-game slide with a strong finish against Washington on Friday night. They will now try to snap Houston's four-game winning streak when the Rockets and superstar guard James Harden pay a visit for a Sunday matinee between two fifth-place teams.
Atlanta at Chicago 3:30 PM ET
What will the Hawks and Bulls do for an encore when they complete a home-and-home series Sunday in Chicago, two days after an epic four-overtime contest in Atlanta where guards Zach LaVine and Trae Young put on a show? Both teams set franchise records for most points in a game as the Bulls outlasted the Hawks 168-161, a result almost secondary to the career-high outputs by both LaVine (47 points) and Young (49) in one of the NBA’s most entertaining games this season.
New York at L.A. Clippers 3:30 PM ET
The New York Knicks are playing better since the All-Star break but still own the worst record in the Eastern Conference as they head toward the NBA draft lottery. The Los Angeles Clippers, who host the Knicks on Sunday, are going through a bit of a rebuild as well but are still managing to contend and sit in the No. 7 spot in the West.
Orlando at Cleveland 6:00 PM ET
The Orlando Magic are beating up on some of the best the NBA has to offer while struggling with the league's lesser squads, a pattern they hope to end when they visit the lowly Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday. The Magic opened a three-game road trip with a 117-112 win over Indiana on Saturday, improving to 10-3 during a stretch that has seen them also defeat Golden State, Toronto and Milwaukee while losing to Chicago and New York.
Toronto at Detroit 6:00 PM ET
The Toronto Raptors ended a long, successful homestand with a dramatic victory and now hit the road for the first time in nearly a month when they visit the surging Detroit Pistons on Sunday. All-Star Kawhi Leonard capped a 38-point effort with a basket in the waning seconds to lift the Raptors to a 119-117 win over Portland on Friday.
Minnesota at Washington 6:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Timberwolves and the Washington Wizards came into the season with high expectations but are instead coming down the stretch outside of the top eight in their respective conferences. The Timberwolves will try to avoid a winless three-game road trip when they visit the Wizards on Sunday.
Memphis at Oklahoma City 7:00 PM ET
The Oklahoma City Thunder are suffering through their first four-game losing streak since opening the season 0-4 and falling back to the pack in the Western Conference playoff race. They will try to snap out of the funk against a team they've dominated of late when they host the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday.
