Preview Roundups
January 17, 2018
Washington at Charlotte 7:00 PM ET
The Charlotte Hornets occasionally show signs that they can compete in the Eastern Conference, they just have trouble doing it on a consistent basis. The Hornets will try to follow up one impressive win with another when they host the Washington Wizards on Wednesday.
New Orleans at Atlanta 7:30 PM ET
Anthony Davis is searing hot and the New Orleans star will try to lead the Pelicans to their fifth win in the past six games when they visit the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday. Davis is one of seven players in NBA history to put together back-to-back 45-point, 15-rebound outings after producing 45 points and 16 rebounds on Tuesday as New Orleans posted a 116-113 overtime victory over the Boston Celtics.
San Antonio at Brooklyn 7:30 PM ET
The San Antonio Spurs have been exchanging wins and losses all month and hope to bounce back from another setback when they continue a three-game road trip at the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. The Spurs opened the trip with a 102-99 loss at Atlanta while getting dominated on the glass and giving up 30 fourth-quarter points.
Detroit at Toronto 7:30 PM ET
A pair of teams coming off tough losses meet when the Toronto Raptors host the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday. The Pistons hit the road after a second-half letdown in a 118-107 loss to the Charlotte Hornets while the Raptors return home trying to avoid their first three-game slide of the season.
Golden State at Chicago 8:00 PM ET
The Chicago Bulls are no longer the same team that went out to Golden State and was crushed 143-94 on Nov. 24, and their confidence is growing with each win. The Bulls will try to push their latest winning streak to four in a row and get some revenge when they host the Warriors on Wednesday.
New York at Memphis 8:00 PM ET
Both the New York Knicks and Memphis Grizzlies have endured lengthy stretches without consecutive wins, but one of them will pick up a second straight victory when they meet Wednesday in Tennessee. The Knicks haven't had a winning streak since a four-gamer from Dec. 10-16 and they're coming off a 119-104 triumph at Brooklyn on Monday they hope sets the tone for another run.
Miami at Milwaukee 8:00 PM ET
The Miami Heat will try to start another winning streak against the last team they defeated when they visit the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday. A dominating defensive effort led the Heat to a 97-79 win over the Bucks on Sunday at home, which ran their longest winning streak of the season to seven games.
L.A. Lakers at Oklahoma City 8:00 PM ET
The Oklahoma City Thunder have plenty of offensive firepower with Carmelo Anthony, Paul George and Russell Westbrook, but it's their work on the defensive end that is carrying the team of late. The Thunder will try to hold their third straight opponent under 92 points and pick up a third consecutive win when they host the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday.
Utah at Sacramento 10:00 PM ET
Rookie Donovan Mitchell continues to be one of the only bright spots for the Utah Jazz, who will lean on their young guard again when they visit the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday. Mitchell followed up a 35-point performance at Charlotte on Friday with 23 points against Indiana on Monday.
Denver at L.A. Clippers 10:30 PM ET
The Los Angeles Clippers have become one of the hottest teams in the NBA and aim to stretch their season-best winning streak to six games when they host the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday. Los Angeles has posted 11 victories in its past 14 games after being seven games below .500 four-plus weeks ago.
