Preview Roundups
September 10, 2017
Detroit at Toronto 1:07 PM ET
Kevin Pillar has run the gamut of emotions during the Toronto Blue Jays' series with the visiting Detroit Tigers at Rogers Centre this weekend, with the low of bouncing into a triple play in the opener eclipsed by the high of recording his third career four-hit performance the following day. Pillar will look to remain on the positive side of things Sunday afternoon as the teams conclude their three-game series.
Cincinnati at NY Mets 1:10 PM ET
The New York Mets are trying to find some positives in the last month of the season and introducing young players to larger roles. The Mets will look to those youngsters to lead them to a series sweep when they host the Cincinnati Reds in the finale of a four-game series on Sunday.
Miami at Atlanta 1:35 PM ET
Brian Anderson continues to impress in his initial stint in the major leagues as the Miami Marlins attempt to split a four-game series against the host Atlanta Braves on Sunday, one day after suffering a difficult loss. Anderson, who recorded his first career RBI and multi-hit performance in Thursday’s series opener, went 2-for-4 and drove in a run Saturday as the Marlins fell for the 11th time in 13 contests.
Philadelphia at Washington 1:35 PM ET
Despite sporting the worst record in the majors, the Philadelphia Phillies have refused to make life easy for the Washington Nationals just about every time they have met this season. Even so, the host Nationals could become the first team in the majors to guarantee themselves a postseason berth if things break their way Sunday, when they meet the Phillies for the finale of their four-game series.
Tampa Bay at Boston 1:35 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox are on another hot streak with the bats and continue to draw closer to another American League East title. The Red Sox will try to shave another game off their magic number and complete a three-game sweep when they host the Tampa Bay Rays in the finale on Sunday.
San Francisco at Chi. White Sox 2:10 PM ET
The Chicago White Sox are in last place in the American League Central but are still working to change that in the last month of the season, led by slugger Jose Abreu. The White Sox will try to ride Abreu's hot bat to a series win when they host the San Francisco Giants in the rubber match of a three-game interleague series on Sunday.
Minnesota at Kansas City 2:15 PM ET
The wheels have come off for Kansas City Royals left-hander Jason Vargas, who earned an All-Star berth with a sensational first half, only to unravel during the stretch run. Vargas will be looking to snap a four-start losing streak when the Royals go for a split of their four-game series against the visiting Minnesota Twins on Sunday.
Pittsburgh at St. Louis 2:15 PM ET
After playing .500 ball for the better part of the season, the St. Louis Cardinals appear to be hitting their stride just in time to make a push for the postseason and perhaps an unlikely run for the National League Central crown. Winners of eight of their last 10, the Cardinals look to complete a three-game sweep at home on Sunday, when they host the fading Pittsburgh Pirates.
Milwaukee at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET

The Milwaukee Brewers already have exceeded last year’s win total, and they’ve blown away expectations. Now they look to continue closing the gap in the National League Central when they play the finale of a three-game road series against the division-leading Chicago Cubs on Sunday.

NY Yankees at Texas 3:05 PM ET
Chase Headley and Jacoby Ellsbury have provided consistent dividends at the plate of late as the New York Yankees keep within striking distance in the American League East while strengthening their spot atop the wild-card picture. Headley and Ellsbury look to extend their respective eight-game hitting streaks on Sunday when the visiting Yankees and Texas Rangers play the rubber match of their three-game series.
Houston at Oakland 4:05 PM ET
The Houston Astros have had no answers for the host Oakland Athletics thus far this weekend, allowing a total of 31 runs in losing the first three contests of their four-game series. American League West-leading Houston turns to ace Dallas Keuchel on Sunday as it attempts to salvage the finale and maintain the best record in the junior circuit.
Colorado at LA Dodgers 4:10 PM ET
The same people who considered the Los Angeles Dodgers unbeatable last month are now wondering if they’ll ever win again. Los Angeles has lost nine straight contests and 14 of its last 15 heading into Sunday's finale of its four-game series against the visiting Colorado Rockies, who hold a three-game lead over Milwaukee and St. Louis for the second National League wild-card spot.
LA Angels at Seattle 4:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels are hoping not to let the second wild-card spot in the American League slip out of their sights. The Angels look to remain within striking distance of Minnesota for the second wild card when they attempt to avoid being swept of their three-game series against the host Seattle Mariners on Sunday.
San Diego at Arizona 4:10 PM ET
Robbie Ray is pitching like the best left-hander in the National League West - and that's saying something for a division that includes three-time Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw. Ray looks to continue a dominant stretch and avert a series sweep on Sunday, when the Arizona Diamondbacks wrap up their three-game series against the visiting San Diego Padres.
Baltimore at Cleveland 8:05 PM ET
Winners of a franchise-best 17 straight contests, the Cleveland Indians look to bring out the brooms for the fifth consecutive series on Sunday night when they play the finale of their three-game set against the visiting Baltimore Orioles. Trevor Bauer, who will vie for an American League-best 16th victory, has won a career-best eight straight decisions and owns a 2.47 ERA in his last 10 appearances.
