Steven Stamkos and defensemen Eric Brewer and Victor Hedman also scored goals and fellow blue-liner Sami Salo added two assists for the Lightning. Anders Lindback made 24 saves to gain his third victory in four starts for Tampa Bay, which improved to 7-1-1 against Philadelphia in the last nine meetings.

Sean Couturier scored 59 seconds into the game off a sharp angle for the Flyers, who were 0-for-6 on the power play. Michael Leighton, who was making his first start this season, registered 21 saves in the loss.

The Lightning received a big stop from Lindback on Matt Read to help kill off a four-minute power play midway through the first period. Tampa Bay scored three times in a span of 4:21 – two with the man advantage – to take a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes.

Purcell, who also had two assists, scored from the left circle after a nifty pass from Stamkos on the power play at 14:34 to tie it at 1-all. Brewer’s shot from the right point deflected off Philadelphia's Max Talbot and past Leighton 1:36 later and St. Louis found Lecavalier at the right circle for a one-timer with 1:05 left in the period.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Brewer has three goals in the first five games this season, one better than after his first 104 regular-season games with the Lightning. … Leighton, who dropped to 4-1-0 against Tampa Bay, made his first appearance in the NHL since the 2011 playoffs with the Flyers. He spent all of last season in the American Hockey League. … Lecavalier earned his 22nd career fighting major and his first since Feb. 3, 2009 after battling Flyers D Luke Schenn 5:09 into the game.
