Led by 24 points by guard Wade Baldwin and 20 from center Damian Jones, Vanderbilt scored an ugly 60-59 win over Florida at Nashville's Memorial Gym on Tuesday night.

Baldwin made a number of key plays down the stretch, and Jones (two blocks) and forward Luke Kornet (six blocks) were the primary reasons that the Gators shot just 32.9 percent.

Vanderbilt took its biggest lead with 14:24 left when Baldwin hit one of two free throws, putting the Commodores up 42-28. But less than a minute later, Gator guard Chris Chiozza hit a 3, Florida's first after a dozen tries, which started a 12-3 Gator run, getting UF closer than it had been since midway through the first half.

The run ended when Chiozza found guard Kasey Hill in the left corner for another 3. Those were UF's last points for the next 5:21, until forward Dorian Finney-Smith hit a 3 from the left side to cut Vandy's lead to 48-43.

That's when VU's Baldwin took over, canning a lay-up and getting fouled on the play. The sophomore missed the free throw, but guard Matthew Fisher-Davis secured the offensive rebound, leading to another Baldwin lay-up at 3:50.

UF guard KeVaughn Allen hit a long 3 with eight seconds left, cutting the Vandy lead to two, but Baldwin hit a pair of foul shots with 7.1 seconds left, making Allen's buzzer 3 meaningless.

Vandy led nearly the entire first half and took a 30-19 advantage at the break. The Commodores held Florida (13-7, 5-3) to a miserable 21.2 percent on 33 first-half field goal attempts, including an 0-for-10 performance on 3s.

Hill and Allen led UF with 16 each.
