Mississippi 79, Penn State 76: Jarvis Summers scored 19 points and Marshall Henderson hit four 3-pointers as the Rebels won the Barclays Center Classic championship in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Henderson scored 19 points as Mississippi (6-0) blew a 13-point first-half lead, then rallied after falling behind by seven points in the second half. Derrick Millinghaus added 14 points and the Rebels finished 11-for-24 from 3-point range.

D.J. Newbill led Penn State (6-2) with 23 points and Ross Travis added 17 points. The Nittany Lions, who needed overtime to outlast St. John’s in Friday’s tournament semifinal, led 68-67 with six minutes left but were outscored 12-6 the rest of the way.

Newbill brought Penn State within 75-74 on a dunk with 1:35 to play, but Henderson was fouled on a 3-point attempt and made all three free throws to put the Rebels ahead 78-74. Anthony Perez hit a free throw, and Summers corralled a rebound on the other end to seal the victory.

The Nittany Lions rallied from a five-point halftime deficit, opening the second half on a 20-8 run to build a 59-52 lead on Newbill’s jumper with 13:34 remaining. Mississippi took a 69-68 lead on Henderson’s basket with 5:43 to play, and Henderson’s 3-pointer 41 seconds later pushed the Rebels’ advantage to four.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Mississippi used an 11-3 spurt to build a 28-15 advantage on Henderson’s 3-pointer with 11:48 remaining in the first half. … Mississippi hit 8-of-12 3-point attempts in the first half. … Summers scored just six points in the Rebels’ 77-67 victory over Georgia Tech in the tournament semifinals Friday.
