Iowa State 95, UNC Wilmington 62: Naz Long scored a career-high 26 points as the Cyclones downed the visiting Seahawks in the first meeting between the schools.

Long went 9-for-12 from the field and hit eight 3-pointers, two shy of the school record held by Lucca Staiger. DeAndre Kane collected 13 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists for Iowa State (1-0) as all five starters finished in double figures.

Chris Dixon scored 15 points to lead UNC Wilmington (0-2), which has given up 177 points in its first two games. Addison Spruill chipped in 12 points and Cedrick Williams added 11 for the Seahawks.

Iowa State started the game on a 7-0 run before UNC Wilmington cut the deficit to one midway through the first half. The Cyclones began to pull away as Long's 20 points keyed a 38-9 spurt to close out the half with Iowa State on top 52-22.

It was more of the same in the second stanza as Long's eighth 3-pointer of the game extended the lead to 40 with 13:33 left. Iowa State went on to comfortably win its 17th straight season opener at Hilton Coliseum.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Iowa State is 87-20 all-time in season openers with its last loss coming in 1997 against Northern Iowa. … UNC Wilmington was outrebounded 51-32. … The Cyclones have won 14 consecutive non-conference home games.
