No. 15 Miami (Fla.) 73, Virginia Tech 64: Shane Larkin scored 25 points, including five 3-pointers, as the visiting Hurricanes seized the lead in the second half and held on for their eighth straight victory.

Larkin was 9-of-14 from the field and Kenny Kadji registered 18 points for Miami (16-3, 7-0 ACC), which has a two-game lead in the conference. Trey McKinney Jones added 12 points for the Hurricanes, who trailed by double digits in the first half.

Erick Green, the nation’s leading scorer, recorded 30 points for Virginia Tech (11-9, 2-5). Jarell Eddie had 14 points and Cadarian Raines chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds for the Hokies, who have lost seven of their last nine games.

Virginia Tech was 5-of-10 beyond the arc in the first half and led by as many as 12 points before Larkin helped bring Miami back to within 32-29 at intermission. Larkin matched Green with 12 points in the opening 20 minutes.

The Hurricanes started the second half with a 9-2 run, but Green kept the Hokies in it with three 3-pointers. Larkin’s 3-pointer started a 10-0 run that gave Miami a nine-point lead and the sophomore point guard drained another from behind the arc for a 63-56 lead with 1:48 left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Reggie Johnson, in his third game back from a thumb injury, had four points, 10 rebounds and two of Miami’s eight blocks. … Green has scored at least 30 points in two of his last three games. … Durand Scott made his 109th career start, tying him with Robert Hite for second on Miami’s all-time list.
