Markel Starks scored a career-high 23 points and the Hoyas spoiled Shabazz Muhammad’s debut in the semifinals of the Legends Classic at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

UCLA (3-1) trailed by four after Norman Powell’s 3-pointer with 9:05 left, but Georgetown (3-0) answered with an 11-4 run and drew clear in the final minutes.

Georgetown’s Otto Porter Jr. had 18 points and 11 rebounds after missing one game because of a concussion and Greg Whittington added 13 points.

Muhammad, listed among the nation’s top recruits, scored 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting in his first game since being declared eligible by the NCAA. Fellow freshman Jordan Adams led UCLA with 22 points and six rebounds while Travis Wear added 12 points and eight boards.

Georgetown shot 54.5 percent from the field, including 7-for-14 from 3-point range. The Bruins struggled from beyond the arc, shooting only 26.3 percent (5-of-19).

GAME NOTEBOOK: UCLA forward David Wear left midway through the second half after falling on his back after jumping for a rebound. … Georgetown will face top-ranked Indiana in the championship game Tuesday. UCLA will meet Georgia in the consolation game. …UCLA junior guard Tyler Lamb missed his third straight game with a swollen knee.
