Kevin Jones collected 25 points and 14 rebounds for his sixth double-double this season and West Virginia cruised past visiting Tennessee Tech 72-53 Monday to give coach Bob Huggins his 699th victory.

Darryl Bryant added 15 points and six rebounds, and Deniz Kilicli chipped in 12 points for the Mountaineers (8-2). They improved to 109-44 under Huggins in his fifth season guiding his alma mater.

Jud Dillard's 15 points and 12 boards paced the Golden Eagles (6-5), who got little contribution from Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Player of the Year Kevin Murphy. The senior, who averages 21 points, didn't hit a field goal in the first half and finished with a season-low seven points on 2-for-11 shooting.

Tennessee Tech struggled to a 1-for-15 mark from beyond the arc.

Each team entered on a three-game winning streak. West Virginia was coming off an 84-64 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday, while Tennessee Tech defeated Evansville 72-70.

Jones, who sat for most of the first half with two fouls Saturday, delivered 13 points and eight rebounds in the first half Monday as the Mountaineers grabbed a 33-26 halftime cushion. They used an early 13-2 run to gain control, and the Golden Eagles misfired on all of their seven 3-point attempts in the opening 20 minutes.

Both teams will travel to the Orleans Arena for Thursday/Friday games in the 11th Annual Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic. West Virginia faces Missouri State, while Tennessee Tech plays Kennesaw State on Thursday.
