Tyrel Reed and Brady Morningstar hit 3-pointers during a pivotal second-half run as No. 2 Kansas held off No. 22 Texas A&M 64-51 Wednesday in Lawrence, Kan.
Marcus and Markieff Morris led the way with 13 points apiece as the Jayhawks (28-2, 13-2 Big 12) clinched at least a share of the conference title. Kansas leads No. 8 Texas by a game, with the Jayhawks finishing up Saturday against No. 24 Missouri and the Longhorns wrapping up the regular season against Baylor.
The nation's top shooting team went only 45.3 percent from the field against the Aggies (22-7, 9-6 Big 12), but excelled on the defensive end, particularly during a game-changing stretch in the second half.
Leading 43-41 midway through the half, Kansas held Texas A&M to two points over the next five minutes. Reed and Morningstar connected on shots from outside and Markieff Morris's layup capped a 13-2 run that effectively put the game away.
David Loubeau had 14 points to pace the Aggies, who shot 39.6 percent and had 17 turnovers compared to Kansas' nine.
