No. 22 Kentucky opened with a 29-7 outburst and cruised to a 90-59 home win over South Carolina on Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats (19-7, 7-5 SEC) sucked all the drama out of the game early, scoring the first 15 points while keeping the Gamecocks off the scoreboard for the first 6:09. Kentucky held South Carolina to 21.6 percent shooting while building a 50-21 halftime edge.
Darius Miller hit 6-of-8 3-pointers en route to a game-high 22 points for Kentucky, which shot 50-percent overall and hit 11 of 20 from long range. Terrence Jones added 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Wildcats, while Doron Lamb finished with 18 points.
Malik Cooke scored 12 points for the Gamecocks (13-12, 4-8), who made just 6 of 23 shots from behind the arc.
