Bryce Cartwright's jumper with 1:28 remaining helped Iowa sneak past Indiana, 64-63, on Saturday afternoon in Bloomington, Ind. The victory gave the Hawkeyes back-to-back wins in Big Ten play for the first time since 2007.
Indiana pulled ahead briefly on a free throw by Victor Oladipo before Cartwright, who had helped Iowa (10-13, 3-8 Big Ten) draw even at 62-62 on a layup with 3:03 left, pulled up from the right side and drilled a short jump shot.
The Hoosiers had a pair of shots for the win in the final 5.8 seconds, but Verdell Jones III missed a foul-line jumper and Oladipo's tip-in attempt at the buzzer bounced out.
Melsahn Basabe finished with 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Hawkeyes, while Cartwright added 15 points and eight assists. Indiana (12-12, 3-8) was paced by Jordan Hulls, who scored a game-high 24 points.
Iowa finished the game with a 33-25 rebounding edge to help offset 17 turnovers and 2-of-9 shooting from 3-point range.
