Steven Pledger led the way with 19 points and Cameron Clark had 14 points and nine rebounds as Oklahoma used a big second half to run away from Maryland-Eastern Shore 73-49 on Monday.
Cade Davis finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Sooners (8-6), who shot 58 percent from the floor en route to their third straight victory.
Oklahoma shot 65 percent from the floor in the first half, but took only a 33-30 lead into the half due mainly to the 13 turnovers served up in the first 20 minutes. The Hawks tied it at 39-39 early in the second half before the Sooners took over with a 14-0 burst. Davis and Pledger both hit 3-pointers during the decisive spurt.
Maryland-Eastern Shore (3-10) finally scored at the 6:01 mark only to have Oklahoma take off on another run, this time 13-2.
The Sooners’ schedule gets considerably tougher from here as they open Big 12 play with No. 16 Texas A&M on Saturday before traveling to Baylor and Texas.
