Rhode Island remained perfect at home and picked up its biggest win of the young season with a 67-65 victory over Boston College in a non-conference matchup Wednesday night.
The Rams (9-4) have won three straight and improved to 6-0 at home. It was a big win for Rhode Island, which visits Florida on Monday before opening up Atlantic-10 Conference play.
Rhode Island led 39-30 at the break and held on despite scoring only 28 points in the second half and going scoreless for the final 1:18.
Corey Raji hit a 3-pointer to pull Boston College (10-3) within 67-65 and Rhode Island missed a three pointer on its next possession. But the Eagles failed to score to in the closing seconds.
Nikola Malesevic was 6-of-9 from the field and finished with 16 points and added five rebounds and three assists for Rhode Island.
Joe Trapani scored 18 points to lead the Eagles, who had a seven-game winning streak snapped.
