Darius Morris led the way with 26 points and 12 assists and Tim Hardaway Jr. added 20 points as Michigan got past Bryant, 87-71, on Thursday. Evan Smotrycz finished with 14 points for the Wolverines, who shot 16-of-32 from 3-point range.
Michigan (10-2) drained nine 3-pointers in the first half and only turned the ball over once to take a 45-35 lead into the break. The Wolverines’ first three field goals were from beyond the arc, helping them keep pace with a surprisingly pesky Bulldogs’ squad. Bryant led, 17-16, midway through the first half before Zack Novak’s 3-pointer sparked a 16-2 run that gave Michigan control.
The Bulldogs managed to hang around in the second half but could not bring the deficit under double digits.
The Wolverines wrapped up their pre-conference slate with seven straight victories. They open Big Ten play by hosting No. 13 Purdue on Tuesday.
Bryant (1-10) gets two more chances to snap its eight-game slide before NEC play begins at Monmouth on January 3.
