Iowa State started slow, but finished strong in a 71-42 rout of Dartmouth, Sunday in Ames, Iowa.
Diante Garrett poured in a game-high 27 points to lead the Cyclones (10-2) to their fourth straight win. Garrett has scored in double figures every game this season.
Iowa State hadn't played in a week and was rusty in the first half. The Cyclones led by only one at intermission, but opened the second half with a 23-2 run and were not challenged by the struggling Big Green (3-7) down the stretch.
Iowa State, one of only 10 teams to have all five starters averaging double figures, didn't get the same type of balanced production against Dartmouth. Garrett and reserve Bubu Palo, who had 11, were the only Cyclones to finish in double figures.
Dartmouth didn't have anyone in double figures, though. Ronnie Dixon and Clive Weeden each had seven points for the Big Green.
The Cyclones have two more tune-ups before opening Big 12 play, starting with Wednesday's game against Chicago State. Iowa State opens Big 12 play at Nebraska on Jan. 8.
