It was an almost perfect night for Florida State's Chris Singleton. The junior forward missed just one field goal – and not until less than two minutes remained – while pouring in 30 points to lead the Seminoles past Gardner-Webb, 78-53, at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
Singleton went 6 for 6 in the first half for the Seminoles, including a trio of 3-pointers, as FSU bolted to a 35-15 advantage and held a 38-26 halftime margin.
After the Runnin' Bulldogs cut the margin to 41-35 three minutes into the second half, another bucket by Singleton – his first since 9:14 remained in the first half – halted the rally and Gardner-Webb never got closer. Singleton finished 10 for 11 from the field, and also had 12 rebounds, while Deividas Dulkys added 12 for FSU.
The Seminoles (3-0) were coming off a pair of easy victories to start the season, having pulled away for a 75-55 season-opening win over North Florida, followed by a 97-73 rout over UNC Greensboro.
Jonathan Moore's 21 points paced Gardner-Webb (2-1).
