Nuggets 106, Lakers 96:
Ty Lawson scored 28 of his 32 points in the second half and added 16 assists as Denver held off host Los Angeles.

Darrell Arthur added 15 points of the bench and J.J. Hickson scored 13 in a reserve role as the Nuggets snapped a six-game slide. Wilson Chandler scored 13 points and Randy Foye contributed 12 for Denver.

Carlos Boozer collected 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Lakers, who have lost 14 of their last 15 games. Wayne Ellington added 18 points while Wesley Johnson and Nick Young scored 12 apiece for Los Angeles.

Young’s 3-pointer gave the Lakers a 76-75 lead with 10:15 remaining but the Nuggets scored on nine straight possessions to grab a 93-83 advantage. Los Angeles crept within a point twice in the final three minutes but Lawson responded both times and added a steal and layup with 46.5 seconds left to help Denver put it away.

The Lakers held a 44-32 lead with under five minutes left in the second quarter before the Nuggets closed with a 13-4 run to cut the deficit to three at the break. Lawson scored the last six points of an 8-0 burst that gave Denver a lead with 4:47 left in the third before Los Angeles recovered to knot it at 71 headed to the fourth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Nuggets won for the second time in the last 15 games. … Denver F Danilo Gallinari went 1-of-5 from the field and is 7-of-30 over the last four contests. … Los Angeles rookie PG Jordan Clarkson followed up a season-high 20 points with seven on 3-of-11 shooting.
