Lakers 123, Bulls 118 (2OT): Jordan Hill scored a season-best 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Wayne Ellington added 23 points as host Los Angeles defeated Chicago to snap a nine-game losing streak.

Jordan Clarkson matched his career high of 18 points and Carlos Boozer added 16 for the Lakers, who avoided matching the franchise’s longest skid since moving to Los Angeles in 1960. The Lakers led by as many as 15 points and never trailed in regulation, and had to overcome a five-point deficit in the first overtime before controlling the second session.

Chicago’s Jimmy Butler matched his career high of 35 points and Pau Gasol had 20 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four blocked shots in his first game against the Lakers in Los Angeles since departing after 6 1/2 seasons. Derrick Rose scored 17 points and Joakim Noah contributed nine points, 17 rebounds and nine assists.

Rose missed a potential winning shot as time expired in the first overtime and the Lakers scored eight of the first 11 points of the second extra session with Hill’s jumper making it 114-109 with 1:53 to go. Butler hit two free throws with 1:48 to play before Los Angeles ran off the next six points to take a nine-point lead on two free throws by Ellington with 23.7 seconds left.

Clarkson converted a three-point play with 2:08 remaining in regulation to give the Lakers a 96-87 lead before Butler scored Chicago’s next nine points to make it a two-point margin and Gasol tipped in Rose’s miss with 11 seconds left to tie it at 98 and force overtime. Rose drained a 3-pointer 23 seconds into overtime for the Bulls’ first lead of the contest and back-to-back baskets by Gasol made it a five-point margin but Hill knocked down a tying jumper with 16.2 seconds to go.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Los Angeles collected 18 offensive rebounds while posting a 54-49 edge on the boards. … The Bulls were 6-of-25 from 3-point range. … Lakers SF Nick Young (ankle) missed his second straight game.
