Heat 116, Clippers 112: LeBron James had 31 points and 12 assists as Miami won in Los Angeles against the Clippers for the first time in four visits since James joined the Heat.

Ray Allen and Chris Bosh scored 15 points apiece as Miami opened a six-game road excursion with its sixth win in seven games. Shane Battier and Dwyane Wade added 14 points for the Heat, who racked up 11 steals and scored 25 points off 20 Clippers’ turnovers.

Blake Griffin scored a season-best 43 points and grabbed 16 rebounds and Jamal Crawford made five 3-pointers while scoring 31 points for Los Angeles. DeAndre Jordan added 16 points and 16 rebounds for the Clippers, who have lost two straight games.

Griffin scored the final eight points of a 10-0 burst as the Clippers pulled within 99-97 with 5:15 remaining. Los Angeles was again within two on Crawford’s basket with 1:04 to play before Allen drained a 3-pointer with 42.4 seconds left and James (three) and Bosh (one) combined to make four free throws as Miami held on.

Griffin (22) and Crawford (18) combined for 40 first-half points but it was the Heat that led by as many as 19 and possessed a 62-55 lead at the break. Miami pushed the lead back up to 17 late in the third quarter and took an 89-75 lead into the final stanza.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Los Angeles collected 21 offensive rebounds and had a 52-31 edge on the boards. … The Heat were 13-of-31 from 3-point range with Battier knocking down four and James making three. … Jordan has strung together 29 consecutive double-digit outings on the boards.
