Hawks 83, Rockets 80: Kyle Korver and Paul Millsap scored 20 points apiece to help host Atlanta halt a six-game losing streak against Houston.

Mike Scott tallied 14 points off the bench for the Hawks, who won their second straight contest following a three-game skid. Elton Brand grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds and blocked three shots for Atlanta.

James Harden had 25 points, seven rebounds and seven assists for the Rockets, who committed 18 turnovers. Dwight Howard had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Aaron Brooks added 13 points for Houston.

DeMarre Carroll’s 3-pointer with 1:54 remaining gave the Hawks a 79-78 lead and Korver hit two free throws with 15.9 seconds left to make it a three-point game. Jeremy Lin’s right foot was ruled to have been on the three-point line as he swished a shot with 6.5 seconds remaining, and Korver hit two free throws with 5.3 seconds left before Atlanta’s defense prevented the Rockets from attempting a game-tying 3-pointer.

Houston scored the game’s first 11 points and held the Hawks to 10 opening-quarter points. Atlanta battled back to trail just 41-39 at the break and then limited the Rockets to 7-of-18 shooting in the third quarter to take a 65-60 advantage into the final stanza.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Korver was 4-of-7 from 3-point range to extend his NBA record to 106 consecutive games of making at least one. … Rockets F Chandler Parsons (hamstring) missed his second straight game. … Atlanta hadn’t beaten Houston since midway through the 2009-10 campaign.
