Melky Cabrera hit a grand slam during a six-run fourth inning that broke the game open for Cleveland, and the Indians defeated the visiting Baltimore Orioles 8-0 in the finale of a weekend series Sunday at Progressive Field.

The Indians won two of three in this series and finished the season with a 5-2 record versus the slumping Orioles, who fell back to 50 games under .500 at 37-87.

During the early innings, the Indians took command against struggling Orioles starter Yefry Ramirez (1-5) and Sean Gilmartin.

Ramirez allowed seven runs on seven hits in three-plus innings. Gilmartin surrendered the Cabrera grand slam that gave the Indians an 8-0 lead.

Cleveland starter Mike Clevinger (9-7) continued to be a riddle that the Baltimore offense couldn't solve. He threw six shutout innings, extending his streak of scoreless frames against the Orioles to 24, dating back to 2017.

The right-hander threw a two-hit shutout in his other appearance against Baltimore earlier this season.

In this game, though, Clevinger needed to work his way out of trouble a few times, scattering seven hits in the six innings. The right-hander struck out seven and walked one.

Ramirez struggled with his control and command in this game. He struck out two but walked five, which helped Cleveland come up with several scoring chances.

The Orioles came up with some good scoring chances early, getting four hits and putting runners on first and third in each of the first two innings. However, they came up empty each time.

The Indians took a 1-0 lead in the first thanks to a Yandy Diaz RBI double. They made it 2-0 in the second on Greg Allen's RBI single.

Cleveland turned the game into a laugher in the fourth. Michael Brantley lined an RBI double, and Diaz walked with the bases loaded two batters later to give the Indians a 4-0 lead.

Gilmartin then replaced Ramirez and gave up the grand slam to Cabrera two batters after that for an 8-0 advantage.

The Indians did not get a hit after the fifth inning and ended up with 10 overall -- the Orioles had nine but couldn't score a run.
