One day after the teams combined for 24 runs and 35 hits, the game was scoreless through three innings until San Francisco broke through with four runs in the fourth. Blanco capped the rally with a two-out, two-run triple off Henderson Alvarez (2-2), who yielded four runs on as many hits over seven frames.

The Giants, who matched a season high with eight walks, added to their lead with two runs in the eighth on one hit and four walks. Logan Morrison answered with a two-run double in the bottom half for Miami, who lost for the 10th time in its last 13 games.
