Pirates 6, Braves 0
: Wandy Rodriguez and two relievers faced the minimum number of batters as host Pittsburgh handed Atlanta its third shutout.

Rodriguez (2-0), who left his last start April 8 after just 2 1/3 innings with a strained left hamstring and was scratched from his scheduled outing Sunday, yielded one single and struck out five in seven dominant innings. Relievers Mark Melancon and Vin Mazzaro saw a total of six batters in the final two frames as the Pirates used two double plays to erase the Braves' only two hits.

Pedro Alvarez hit a two-run shot, his second home run in as many nights, and Garrett Jones drove in a pair of runs for the Pirates against Braves starter Tim Hudson (2-1). The right-hander gave up six runs on nine hits in four innings in losing his first chance at career win No. 200.

Rodriguez set down the first 10 men he faced before Jason Heyward singled with one out in the fourth. Justin Upton hit into an inning-ending double play, beginning a string of 11 more consecutive outs for the Pirates left-hander. Mazzaro allowed a leadoff hit in the ninth before Gerald Laird hit into a double play.

Travis Snider, Neil Walker and Russell Martin each had two hits and scored a run for Pittsburgh.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Braves CF B.J. Upton was ejected for arguing balls and strikes after he struck out to begin the seventh. ... All three Atlanta losses have been shutouts. ... Both double plays came on first pitches, meaning that the Pirates threw two pitches all night with men on base.
