Diamondbacks 7, Reds 1: Jason Kubel homered twice and Ian Kennedy pitched eight solid innings as visiting Arizona beat Cincinnati for the second time in three nights.

Kubel hit a two-run blast in the first and a solo shot in the fourth as the Diamondbacks handed Reds starter Mat Latos (7-3) his first loss since April 18.

Kennedy (7-8) allowed one run and eight hits while winning for only the second time in seven starts. He struck out seven and didn’t walk anyone as Cincinnati suffered its second loss in nine games.

Aaron Hill singled with one out in the first inning prior to Kubel’s homer to center. Cincinnati’s Drew Stubbs delivered a run-scoring single in the second before Kubel led off the fourth with a blast to right-center field.

Hill had a run-scoring double in the fifth and Miguel Montero drew a bases-loaded walk to finish Latos’ night.

Arizona added two runs in the eighth on an RBI double by Paul Goldschmidt and a passed ball.

Latos allowed five runs and six hits in 4 2/3 innings to end a seven-game winning streak.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kubel was in the lineup for the first time since injuring a hamstring on Friday. … Cincinnati SS Zack Cozart was hitless in four at-bats and is 1-for-20 over his last six games. … The Diamondbacks sent RHP Trevor Bauer to Triple-A Reno one day after he was plagued by wildness in a loss to Cincinnati. … The Reds recalled OF Xavier Paul from Triple-A Louisville and he flied out as a pinch hitter.
