Rockies 18, Mets 9:
Carlos Gonzalez and Dexter Fowler each hit three-run homers during an 11-run fifth inning and Ramon Hernandez added a grand slam in the seventh as host Colorado outslugged New York.

Gonzalez finished with six RBIs, Troy Tulowitzki added a solo homer and Marco Scutaro had four hits and four runs scored for the Rockies.

Scott Hairston completed the 10th cycle in franchise history and Ruben Tejada recorded four hits for the Mets.

Colorado jumped on rookie Chris Schwinden (0-1) in the first inning, taking the lead on an RBI groundout by Gonzalez and Tulowitzki’s third blast.

New York re-took the lead with a four-run fifth but coughed it back up as the Rockies went to work in the bottom half. Jonathan Herrera sparked the rally with an RBI single in front of Gonzalez, who ended Schwinden’s night with a go-ahead homer to deep right.

Manny Acosta was no better, allowing two singles and a walk to load the bases before surrendering a run-scoring groundout and Fowler’s blast. Another walk, single and a hit-by-pitch reloaded the bases for Gonzalez, who singled in a pair.

Hairston, who singled in the second, homered in the fourth and tripled in the fifth, completed his cycle with a two-run double in the sixth.

Matt Reynolds (3-0) got the win in relief for the Rockies.

GAME NOTEBOOK: It was not all good news for Colorado, which had to lift rookie left-hander Drew Pomeranz after the fourth inning with forearm tightness. … The teams combined for 36 hits. … New York, which had allowed a total of four runs in sweeping the Miami Marlins this week, had not allowed as many as 18 runs since May 31, 2010.
