Braves 3, Diamondbacks 2:
Dan Uggla’s solo home run in the third inning proved to be the game winner as Atlanta won for the third straight night in Arizona.

The Braves won their fifth straight game overall and improved to 10-1 since opening the season with four straight losses.

Atlanta did all its damage in the first three innings. The Braves opened the scoring when Joe Saunders walked Chipper Jones with two outs and the bases loaded, scoring Michael Bourn before striking out Jason Heyward to get out of the jam.

Martin Prado’s RBI single scored Jack Wilson, who led off the top of the second with a single. Uggla kept the momentum going in the third with his third home run of the year.

Tommy Hanson (2-2) gave up two runs on five hits through seven innings, striking out seven and walking one batter.

Jonny Venters and Craig Kimbrel provided two innings of shutdown relief, combining for six straight strikeouts to end the game.

Arizona lost its fifth straight at home and has been outscored 22-5 through the first three games of the series.

The Diamondbacks mustered only five hits, including Miguel Montero’s RBI single in the first.

Arizona knotted the score 2-2 in the second on Jason Kubel’s solo home run to lead off the inning.

Joe Saunders (1-1) settled in after a rough first inning, allowing three runs - two earned - on six hits and striking out five batters.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Atlanta has hit 15 home runs in the last 11 games. … Diamondbacks right fielder Justin Upton returned after missing three of the last four games with a sore thumb, going 1-for-4 with a double and two strikeouts.
