Orioles 6, Nationals 5: Adam Jones and Nick Markakis hit two-run homers as Baltimore hung on for its ninth straight road win and fifth in a row overall.

The Orioles (27-14), who have the best record in the American League and lead the AL East by two games over Tampa Bay, are 19-7 in their last 26 games and have a major league-best 64 home runs.

Jones, who had three hits, extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a first-inning single before unleashing his 14th homer – a one-out blast to left off Ross Detwiler (3-3) – to give the Orioles a 4-0 lead.

Markakis, who homered in the 11th inning to give the Orioles a 2-1 victory on Friday, connected for his eighth Saturday with Robert Andino aboard to put Baltimore in front 6-0 in the fifth.

Jason Hammel (5-1) allowed four runs in six hits in 5 1/3 innings to improve to 4-0 lifetime against Washington.

Hammel allowed an RBI single to Stephen Lombardozzi in the fifth and the Nationals rallied for three more runs in the sixth, highlighted by Rick Ankiel’s RBI double which chased Hammel and Bernadina’s two-out run-scoring single off reliever Luis Ayala.

Jim Johnson allowed a solo homer to Ryan Zimmerman with two outs in the ninth before earning his 15th save in 15 chances.

Andino had two hits, including a two-run single with two outs in the second.

Detwiler yielded six runs and nine hits in five innings in his second straight poor outing after four quality starts in a row.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Nationals have lost three straight and four of five. … Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters is 4-for-40 in his last 10 games and 9-for-51 in 14 contests against Washington. … Zimmerman was 3-for-5 and is 5-for-10 in the series after going 2-for-20 in his previous six games.
