Delwyn Young had a pinch-hit, two-run double and rookie Jose Tabata added an RBI single in a six-run seventh inning as the Pittsburgh Pirates posted an 8-5 triumph over the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday.

Garrett Jones had a two-run single and rookie Pedro Alvarez belted a solo homer for the second straight game for cellar-dwelling Pittsburgh (30-52). The Pirates claimed three of four in this set to win their first season series over the Phillies since 2003.

The six-run inning made a winner out of Evan Meek (4-2), who came on in relief of starter Jeff Karstens and retired the side in order in the top of the frame.

Joel Hanrahan worked a spotless eighth and Octavio Dotel retired the side in order in the ninth for his 19th save of the season.

Jose Contreras (3-3) was saddled with the loss after permitting three runs and two hits in one-third of an inning.

Dane Sardinha belted a solo homer, Greg Dobbs had an RBI double and Raul Ibanez added a run-scoring single for Philadelphia (42-38), which dropped four of its last five contests.
