Texas’ No. 9 hitter Julio Borbon blasted a three-run home run to lift the Rangers to a 6-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates in a three-game series opener on Tuesday night.

The Rangers can’t be stopped – At least that’s what opponents have to be thinking as Texas is now on a nine-game winning streak and have scored at least five runs in each of the past six games.

Pittsburgh jumped out to a 2-0 lead but the Rangers’ offense got going in the fourth. Michael Young unleashed a solo home run, and then Borbon gave Texas a 4-2 lead in the fifth with his blast over the right-field fence.

The Pirates scored a run in the sixth with an RBI double from Bobby Crosby to pull within one, but that was as close as they would get.

The Rangers cushioned their lead with a solo home run from Josh Hamilton in the sixth and a sacrifice fly from Nelson Cruz in the eighth.

Texas starter Tommy Hunter (3-0) earned the win with six innings pitched, allowing three runs (two earned) on nine hits with no walks and six strikeouts. Neftali Feliz saved his 20th game of the season with a scoreless ninth.

Pittsburgh starter Ross Ohlendorf (0-6) took the loss, lasting only 4 2/3 innings, allowing four runs (all earned) on five hits with two walks and a strikeout. He had retired the first 10 batters of the game.
