Andy Pettitte was in vintage form and the New York Yankees’ offense supplied the support in Saturday’s 7-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

Nick Swisher and Francisco Cervelli each drove in a pair of runs and Robinson Cano had four hits and scored three times to help New York stake a 6-0 lead through five innings.

That was more than enough of a head-start for Pettitte (3-0), who allowed one run on six hits over eight innings, while striking out eight batters.

The Yankees jumped all over Angels starter Joel Pineiro (2-2), tagging him for six runs on 11 hits in six innings of work.

Swisher opened the scoring with a single in the first and Cervelli made it 3-0 with an RBI single in the fourth.

Derek Jeter and Mark Teixeira also drove in runs for the Yankees, who avoided a three-game losing skid.

Torii Hunter got the Angels’ lone run with a sixth-inning sacrifice fly.
