Jayson Nix and Chris Gimenez both drove in four runs to lead the Cleveland Indians to a 15-4 rout of the Kansas City Royals on Friday.

Matt LaPorta added a three-run home run to highlight a six-run second inning for the Indians, who cruised to victory in the opener of a three-game series.

Gimenez had an RBI double in the second and belted a three-run homer in the fifth inning to put Cleveland on top 10-3. Nix had an RBI double in the fourth and added a three-run blast of his own in the eighth.

Indians hurler Josh Tomlin (2-3) was the fortunate beneficiary, picking up the win by going five innings and allowing three runs and eight hits. Tomlin walked four and had one strikeout before turning the game over to the Indians' bullpen.
