Bobby Crosby went 3-for-3 as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Cleveland Indians 5-3 Sunday for a rare series victory.

The Pirates took two of three from the Indians in a battle of last-place teams. It’s the first series victory for the Pirates since sweeping a rain-shortened two game set against the Chicago Cubs on May 31 and June 1.

A walk, single and sacrifice off Tribe reliever Jensen Lewis (2-2) gave the Pirates runners at second and third with one out. Pedro Alvarez’s sacrifice fly to right broke a three-all tie and Crosby’s flare to center added the insurance.

Brendan Donnelly (3-1) pitched an inning of scoreless relief for the win. Octavio Dotel pitched a scoreless ninth, striking out a pair to earn his 14th save and second in as many nights.

The Pirates have won consecutive games for the first time in three weeks, after ending a 12-game losing streak with a victory over the Indians on Saturday.

Rookie phenom Carlos Santana accounted for all three of Cleveland’s runs on a two-run homer in the first and an RBI double in the third. Santana finished with three hits and is batting .393 with two homers and eight RBIs in eight starts since being recalled from Triple-A Columbus. Santana has hit safely in six of the eight games.
