Gordon Beckham had a pair of hits and drove in three runs as the Chicago White Sox beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-4 Tuesday night, sending the Pirates to their season-high ninth consecutive loss.

Tuesday's performance was a long time coming for Beckham, who had a sensational rookie year with the White Sox but has struggled mightily in his second season. It was his first multi-hit game since June 1 against Texas and the three RBIs equalled his output from the previous 20 games combined.

After hitting an RBI groundout in the second inning to tie the game 2-2, Beckham put the White Sox ahead with a run-scoring double in the fourth. The Pirates rallied to tie the score at 4-4 but Beckham put Chicago ahead for good with a single to shallow left that scored Alexei Ramirez.

Freddy Garcia (7-3) wasn't at his best in allowing four runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings, but it was still good enough to send him to his fourth straight victory.

Bobby Jenks struck out two in the ninth inning for his 12th save.

Andrew McCutchen had three hits, scored twice and stole three bases in a sensational effort for Pittsburgh, which is mired in its longest skid since last September.

Pirates rookie Brad Lincoln (0-1) struggled in his second major-league start, surrendering five runs on six hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out two.
