Cedric Mullins hit a two-run homer to spark a six-run second inning as the Baltimore Orioles rolled to a 17-5 victory over the host New York Yankees on Thursday afternoon.

Mullins delivered the tiebreaking single Wednesday and followed up his clutch hit by lining a homer into the right field seats for a 3-0 lead off New York rookie right-hander Luis Gil (9-2).

Ryan Mountcastle added a bases-clearing double in Baltimore's big inning and had an RBI single in the ninth. Ryan O'Hearn contributed two hits and drove in four runs for the O's, who set season highs for runs and hits (19).

Anthony Santander added a three-run homer in the fifth off Tim Hill, who joined the Yankees on Thursday.

Gunnar Henderson reached base in his first four plate appearances before adding an RBI groundout in the sixth. Henderson opened the game with a double, singled in the second, walked in the third and doubled again in the fifth.

Austin Hays padded the lead with a two-run homer in the seventh.

The Orioles won the final two games of the three-game set and lead the season series 5-2. Baltimore also set a major league record by winning its 22nd straight series against an AL East opponent, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Gleyber Torres hit a solo homer and Aaron Judge hit a two-run shot after sitting out Wednesday's game due to being hit on the left hand on Tuesday. Judge also had an RBI single in the fifth.

Torres committed one of New York's three errors and was pulled after the fifth due to right groin tightness.

Gil allowed seven runs on eight hits in a career-low 1 1/3 innings. He struck out one, walked two and threw 47 pitches en route to his first loss since April 15.

Baltimore left-hander Cole Irvin allowed five runs on five hits in 4 2/3 innings. Irvin struck out two and walked two. Relieving Irvin, Bryan Baker (1-0) tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings and was awarded the win.
